Hey guys i would like to organize a low elo 1v1 or 2v2 tourney.
As for now most things about it are unknown - i have to know, if there would be anyone to participate. Then we will talk about stuff.

If you are below 1800, and you would like to take part in this - please post here your nick and elo.

Doesnt matter which elo right now - just give me the higher.

I don't see many lower elo people to read the forums, so please spread the word in the lobby people!

To see your elo, use chilli deluxe player list or some other widget. You can also determine it by your icon - if youre NOT napoleon, then youre below 1800.

low elo ppl dont play 1v1, if they did, they wouldnt be low elo

GBrank[Fx]Drone yes Drone, that's why it can be either 1v1 or 2v2. Also from top #32 to lower everyone is below 1800 anyways, so it's not like playing 1v1 automatically grants you 1800+.

And also i'd like the tourney to encourage people into playing 1v1 - It makes you learn how to play and understand the mechanics, counters and stuff way faster than team games since there is no one to make up for your mistakes, so you have to eliminate your weaknesses.

To the rest, as for now i want everyone to post their higher elo. I will think about how to balance and manage all this if there will be more people, and for now it's just a rough information on how many people would participate and what is their average elo.

By petitioning for better elo transparency rules.

Current system is not very consistent, you get all the places where elo is kinda visible and kinda required, but its all blurry.

I'm in the same boat as Ivory, my teams elo is right on the borderline, but my 1v1 elo is such that I could join.

You mean 4hundred? Ivory has not posted in this thread and has both elo values above 1800.

Also, I would like to participate in this tournament! 2k elo isn't that far from 1800 :P

When is the elo getting locked in? I am below 1800 right now, but there is a small chance i will rise above 1800 at some point.

But yeah, i would be interested in stomping some nubs.

Sounds like 1800 might be too high for a low elo tourney :)

You are not "supposed to know it", it is hidden on purpose.
Any ways to still see it (some playerlist widgets, replay files, asking admins etc) are kind of cumbersome, which makes this whole tourney idea a bit problematic :/
For example even if players manage to find out their elo, if tourney organizer is not an admin he can not easily check if they tell the truth...

Not true, see http://code.google.com/p/zero-k/wiki/TourneyArchive there was at least 2 other tourneys for low elo, think there is interesst.


My elo is so low that I could not join experienced host anymore, but I could play this tourney, hooray.
(Not sure if it would be fair because last multiple dozen of games I all lost trying to get zK to run with non-messed settings. (time to go back to the 96.0 future already!))

Funny how you chose exactly 1800 as the cutoff:

1v1 Ladder:

I'm kidding of course. But a tourney with 16 people ranging from 1000 elo to 1800 elo is no better than one with the full range of players. Better to specify more specific ranges. Such as:

Tourney for 1600 - 1800
Tourney for 1400 - 1600
Tourney for below 1400

If it's too difficult to find enough players for these ranges, then it wasn't meant to be yet.
