Hello,

This is a new style of Spring gameplay for me, so it's a bit confusing.

I just wanted to know if this was a bug or a strategy to work around (hence I was at odds as to where to put this post! :D).

I am building my base fine, but the CAI bot keeps attacking like within a hyperboloid 2 seconds! In fact, one time, I couldn't even finish building my basic power and metal plants before they attacked!

Is this just a strategy I need to learn how to face or is this a bug?

Thanks in advance!

Whats your build order?

One approach is
>Cloaky bot factory (set to produce 1 con, 5 glaives, 1 con, 5 warriors.)
>the move commander onto building 1 mex nearby
> then link the mex with the spot for the next mex with solars (so 2 or 3 solars)

Once the first con is out get it to building an LLT on one approach, if you have a more spread out starting base two LLT's.

Continue linking your mexes building solars and mexes around your starting plot, once that is done move to a nearby plot and keep building.

The con after building the two LLT's should either move on to help the factory produce glaives for raiding the enemies mexes, or defending.

Or the con can move onto building radar dish.

by this time the second con should be out so that could build the radar.

The warriors make superb anti glaives but i know other people continue building glaives.

After that its kinda dependant on what the enemy has set up.

Remember that if you have4 radar to them you can out range LLT's with (the white artillery like unit fromteh cloaky bot plant) or you can out last them with Zeus' (their stun + hp allows them to take down LLT's only having one unit in 5 come to 1/3rd hp.

Of course this is all just one approach.

What do you mean attacked? Sent in a 500 cost army or a single raider?

If it is a single unit that is perfectly normal, CAI scouts from early on and many scout units are armed.

If it is an army you're probably building up far too slowly.

In my experience the best defense against CAI's early scouts is a single missile tower very early on. Then pump out some units to defend/scout/attack after getting a con to help build up your economy.

Once again, thanks for the responses 11.41, google frog, and maackey!

Frog, you hit the nail right on the head. A lot are glaives and other scouts. They keep me busy while the commander and several big units start attacking. Usually I've just gone with the other unit factory, not the cloaky bots one. I must remember that. This makes sense now. I appreciate the strategem that maackey and 11041 gave me. They've proven to be quite effective, increasing my survival time by 250%! (lol jk idk how much but I'm certainly doing better XD).

Thanks again guys!

Cheers,

Here are a few tips for playing the CAI
> build a defender to cover a wide area(entrance routes to your base, mexes, factory)
> raid the CAI. If he killed 2 of your mexes then kill 2 of his. This will prevent him from expanding and gaining the advantage when you're rebuilding.
> use artillery(preferably not EMP). The CAI has a tendency to porc. This means that it is wide open to artillery strikes. Artillery naturally is affective against static defense so make good use of it.

Typically(on a small map), I will attempt to control a hill or another advantage point next to this enemies base. From here I shell the enemy's base into powder. I prefer a hill because it slows enemy units down so you can destroy them. One more thing, always be sure to mix some units in with you're artillery for defense.

How did you even find this thread? It's 20 months old. USrankxman15 hasn't been active in almost a year, I don't think he's reading your reply.

one thing that drives me crazy about CAI is the fact that as soon as it places a factory, there's already a set of units it will build and each of those constructors will each instantly start building(sometimes more factories).

I don't think an human can even think that quickly, and although CAI can be "prevented" to an extent it builds so much so fast that it makes the game ore annoying then fun when you are at the 1.25 hour mark.
in fact, I usually give up after that 'cause it starts getting ridiculous. :P

there should be a short delay that randomizes between 1 and 20 seconds between actions. ;)

You can queue up orders by holding down SHIFT, and put your factory on repeat so that it never stops building units. You can also select partially constructed unit to give it orders, so you don't even need to wait for a constructor to finish to set up a string of queued build orders for it.

The important thing though is simply to ensure you are building with 100% of your metal production at all times (and to never stop expanding your metal production). If your metal bar is empty and you haven't skimped on mexes, you don't really need to worry about a few idle cons.

Games typically last 15-30 minutes, by all means the game CAN go longer and there are larger and larger super mechs that you can keep building the longer it goes on, but an hour long game is incredibly rare (Try killing him faster).

I've been playing a lot of Starcraft 2 lately. The pros hit 400 actions per minutes during big fights.

Meanwhile, in zK:

At start you just have to click fast.
If you can do the start stuff it in 2 seconds (its only 10 clicks or so) you already have a headstart vs newbies who diddle around for a minute.

against CAI, I start with a shield fac and spam some dirtbags, then, self destruct, this will slow down cai

B-b-but it's so nice replying to people who live in the past!

You can give builders a queue while they are still under construction. As for facplop, you can create a gadget that allows players to queue buildings and units for their first factory before the game starts.

Someone go do that now!

Actually just create a widget. No gadget for this please.

Skasi
Widget means CAI has the ping advantage. What reason is there against a gadget?

Widgets are for UI things and gadgets don't (or at least shouldn't) have access to Chili. Nothing in this idea changes game mechanics.

The meat of the widget is in dealing with the interface required for players to select and queue buildings as well as the creation of a queue for their factory. This idea only gives a few build orders upon the creation of two units. Ideally it would implemented in Integral Menu as the menu does nothing before the start of the game and it already contains the tabs required to select buildings and a factory queue.

the problem in the cai is the con spam,I played 3v3 with cai, and somehow after 20 min they focus on constructor spam, at the end, there are more constructor than building and fighting units

This thread has beem necroed three times...

But on topic, I agree that CAI spams too many cons. It's too easy to just make 5 raiders first and kill their fac, ususally they will react to you killing their stuff by making their 4th or 5th worker in a row.

This results in the CAI being very easy to kill early on, but if you opt for a more economical strategy then they suddenly become much more potent due to their massive greed. Obviously it's still quite easy to raid them, because they tend to naked expand. But most new players will get rolled over if they don't kill the CAI early.
