I have a cosmetic suggestion for unlocks. Currently, the system is confusing new players with the term "Free XP" conflicting with the leveling up "XP to next level". I suggest renaming the "Free XP" to "Research" or "Research points" instead.
Calling it "Research" (or something similar) would indeed make sense with the unlocks page saying "Technology owned:" (how do you get more technology? by researching it of course). It would certainly help the new people in the long run with such a simple change. Giving it a name outside of "Free XP" will prevent a newbie thinking:
quote: oh I earn XP with each battle right? Wait what, its not adding up? Oh I have to level up to get Free XP >.> |
In the long run this is an issue that should be addressed before adding the game onto steam in my opinion. This way we don't get
quote: How do I earn XP (for unlocks)? I thought I earned it with each battle.. |
or
quote: Help! I'm not earning XP (to unlock stuff)! |
x1000.
Another suggestion (again cosmetic) would be to change the description of Kudos and Free XP descriptions from:
quote: Metagame currency that you can get by donating to Zero-K. You can use it to unlock items instantly or get access to unique visual improvements. |
to
quote: Metagame currency that you can get by donating to Zero-K or by winning tournaments. You can use it gain access to unique visuals for your commanders. |
This description almost implies a Pay-to-Win element and should be edited to avoid confusion.
Next up Free XP:
from
quote: Free XP which can be spent on commander unlocks |
to
quote: Research points available for researching new commander components and chassis. |
Edit: clean up.
Edit 2: Further refinement
