Generally in games vet units are better then fresh units. I thought maybe if a unit gets to level 3 in experience then it should be able to choose a "upgrade" package like for example 10% more health, or 10% more damage.

What you guys think?

Skasi
This has been suggested and discussed multiple times. There used to be hp increase and similar for experience gain, they were removed because they mess up with things like "how many bombers do I need to kill this?".

If anything I'd like morphing to be overhauled too: remove xp based morph, make morph an actual unique/rare unit feature like puppy goo, jump, cloak, etc.

Retreating and repairing units is already rewarded by not giving the enemy the reclaim and not having to pay any metal for the repair.
imo this is would make the game more complex without giving it more depth. If you think retreating and repairing unit should be rewarded more, a higher percentage of metal value in reclaim might be more appropriate.

btw: afaik all zk units are bots, so if they'd be able to "learn" shouldn't they exchange data of their experiences?

I was thinking about addding more specific upgrades to units, for example more weapons to units like a third cannon for sumo or a conversion to his old heat rays, or a drill under his body to add more damage to its stomp, or even a little cargo bay for krow so it can host a light unit on top on it, and some similar things but that will really change the game core mechanichs, and i really don't know if in better of worse.

It already happens! At 3 XP, the unit always chooses the "kill 3 times my worth of metal of enemy units" package; what's more, using chrono tricks it is applied in the past.

B-but it's 3D!

Yes; repair only costs energy. It also only costs half as much energy to fully repair a unit than it was to build it.

Same basic units with different stats are bad. If I see two units of the same type I expect them to have the same abilities; why would one arbitrarily have more firepower? Commanders are somewhat OK in this regard because there's only one per player, but the fact that they all look the same, have terrible non-informative names like "not to choose level 2", and can vary massively doesn't really help.
