2 DS1: the world as we know it has been sustained by a giant fire, which is going out. As a result, people are becoming undead, and subsequently sent to rot in a remote mountain asylum/cathedral/prison. You get freed, and your savior ( now breathing their last) informs you of a prophecy they were trying to fulfill involving ringing two Bells of Awakening. Once you ring them, you are informed that the universe's Odin/Zeus equivalent actually burned themselves to preserve that massive fire, and that you must succeed them to do the same, after unifying the souls taken from the first flame long ago. Ultimately, you get the choice to sacrifice yourself for more fire, or leave and plunge the world into darkness. 2 DS1: The world as we know it has been sustained by a giant fire, which is going out. 4 DS2: Surprise, turns out that the fire lighting/abandoning has happened a few times since DS1 ended. However, your more pressing concern is in finding a rumoured cure for the undead curse. The king of the land apparently was onto something, but when you find them, they've gone hollow. Fortunately, several other kings in neighboring lands had also been working on this problem, and by combining all of their work together, you manage to get something of a cure, at least for yourself. 4 DS2: Surprise, turns out that the fire lighting/abandoning has happened a few times since DS1 ended. 6 DS3: still not sure, but the current objective is to round up a few of the people who burned themselves in ages past. Haven't gotten much beyond that yet. 6 DS3: Still not sure, but the current objective is to round up a few of the people who burned themselves in ages past. Haven't gotten much beyond that yet.
