1 The name came from the usage of voidfog AKA black dualfog, which has since been broken by newer releases of spring. I used the opportunity to try some more crazy styles of water instead. 1 The name came from the usage of voidfog AKA black dualfog, which has since been broken by newer releases of spring. 3 Check out the older versions of Aetherian to understand why the heightmap is the way it is. The large area outside of main play zone made a lot more sense when it held tall volcanic black spires, I wanted lots of room for big big mountains. When I discovered these steep spires caused a huge performance drop rather then redesigning the whole exterior I decided to try a lazy fix, just zoom blur the shit out of it in GIMP. It worked perfectly, giving the map a normal framerate for its size. 3 Check out the older versions of Aetherian to understand why the heightmap is the way it is. When I discovered these steep spires caused a huge performance drop rather then redesigning the whole exterior I decided to try a lazy fix, just zoom blur the shit out of it in GIMP. It worked functionally, giving the map a normal framerate for its size, and I was happy enough with how it looked to leave it.
