The
problem
with
"just
get
anti-air"
is
that
some
factories
do
not
have
good
enough
anti-air
for
this
purpose
in
1v1
or
2v2,
but
anti-air
is
too
strong
against
drones
the
larger
the
team
game
gets
since
AA
will
quickly
cover
the
game.

this
can
easily
be
balanced.

Shields is best since they have a sub 100m AA bot that also does splash damage, Gremlin is okay but poor damage since it can double up as a scout, but making a Flail, a Toad or an Ettin to deal with one free drone is a bit of a joke. Anti-air becomes a better option for all factories once the heavy drone comes into play, but there are still strong factory differences there.

The power level of drones probably doesn't warrant anti-air, except drones cannot be targeted by units directly and are really good at avoiding shots and making long reload time skirmishers waste a 10 second cooldown. A Glaive should be able to fight off a drone, but this is difficult to implement in practice due to no direct targeting and the drone kiting. (Drones are also really hard to interact against with Ships, drones killing Urchins and doing random harassment all day long through Zephyr fire is hilarious)
