I was gonna click "Exit" when the game was over, but rANDY was faster. :-|

You play quite zoomed in and use the minimap a lot. Have you always played spring like that or is that SC influence?

Definitely stealing bigger resource bars though. Also, the video reminded me how garbage my current camera movement settings are.

I played a lot of OTA before SC and that didn't have zoom either, so I guess it's just what I'm used to.

I used to play up close until Floris tried to make a fpvod with him playing against me.

Then i watched it (in private because recording failed due to sound issues), and like omg, that dude is MICROING ICONS! And then i'm like, hey, it's not that hard actually.

That was a nice watch, thanks for the VOD! I could see myself showing this to someone who was getting into ZK.

rANDY, do you know about alt-inserting units into build queues? I mean, your buildqueues aren't technically complicated, but you still don't have to unqueue all your scorchers to produce 5 slashers. Just hold alt and add units like you usually would, they will be produced immediately after the current one finishes. That way you also don't cancel your 95% built banshee cos you need a few tridents.

Other than that, really nice to watch.

Thanks, I will incorporate that into my play.

YAY!

Btw for some reason that alt-queue thing works differently depending on whether the factory is on repeat.

Fac on repeat: Units are added to be built after the current one.

Not on repeat: Current unit is aborted and replaced by the alt-queued unit(s), and the aborted unit is readded to the queue after them.

I find the way it works not on repeat odd.

Yes, i forgot to mention that. I'd also vote for unifying that behavior (favoring "let unit finish", i.e. current repeat behavior; if you really need to cancel it just unqueue -> re-queue it, with alt if necessary).

It makes a certain kind of sense.

If you're on repeat, then you're just building a mix of units and the order in which they emerge doesn't matter. Alt-queuing means you want a one-off unit but otherwise don't want to interrupt the cycle of building your chosen mix. So it's not worth abandoning the current unit; just wait until it's done and then build the one-off.

If you're not on repeat, then you've specifically chosen a set of units to emerge in a particular quantity and a particular order. If you're alt-queueing, it means you really want the new unit RIGHT NOW, so it's worth abandoning the current unit in order to get the new unit as soon as possible.

At least that's how I imagine the rationale goes.

Is there any "cancel current unit" command? Sometimes you really do want to just abandon that sumo because you need some Pyros *right now*.

Right click the first icon in the list. That's what i meant with "unqueue".

I don't see the connection between the alt-behavior and the repeat behavior. You kind of just stated how it works at the moment. I mean, i could swap the second parts of the explanations and it wouldn't really make less sense...

Oh yeeees I really wish there was a hotkey to just cancel the current action without messing up the whole queue.

Skasi: My solution was about fac build queues. However, if you want to remove the current order from a unit's order queue, you probably should (depending on how fast you need it to stop) tell it to wait, then issue the current order on the same target again (e.g. move to current move target, repair on current repair target etc.). Then unwait the unit (if you told it to wait).

Targeting the same order in the close vicinity of the target point may be tough depending on the circumstances, but it depends on how dire the situation is if canceling the entire queue is the better option.

Facs and non-facs both need the button.
