If the moderators want a list of experimental 1v1 battles I have done to lower my rating so that they can set them as no-elo, I can give them that.
During the last month or year, that should only be 4-6 battles, and only on chicken maps, so just setting those unbalanced chicken maps to no-elo would also solve the issue of me deflating my rating.

A decade of moderating Godde has taught the moderators that a discussion prior to a ban is useless. He'll do all he can to weasel out of things, muddy the water and ferment drama. It's a very predictable pattern so (apart from this post) we're not playing into it. You can see it in the comments above. The result of his behaviour is that he has lost the benefit of the doubt.

There is no "oh the games can just be set no-elo after the fact". Yea, if we happen to find them, and its an imperfect solution, and it means people have no reason not to try. Rating manipulation ruins team balance so has to be nipped in the bud.

cooolcat1239 I've been suggesting they be set as special for months and it was briefly tested in the wake of this incident, as it turns out that prevents them from appearing in coop mm or in map picker votes in chicken lobbies though; that would have to be fixed first (or the chicken tag itself can be made to noelo just like the special tag).

PLT_Godde Specific cases that should never be for rating like chickens can be addressed (I don't know that any FFA maps are in a similar category, I think in a 1v1 all the FFA maps should start people on roughly even footing), there's always potential ways for rating manipulation that aren't based on the map though. If you did air start in a 1v1 on a normal 1v1 map I think that's roughly equally as illegitimate as starting chickens side on this map, but just at your level. You couldn't just no-elo all 1v1s with an air start (not that the infra to do that exists anyway), as at lower levels it would be a legitimate strategy and not throwing.

Look everyone, and I'm talking to you Bakuhatsu and Legomenon with your sneaky upvotes, moderator actions have reasons but we absolutely cannot drag those reasons through the mud for every moderator action! Who watched the game (or perhaps another game in this whole set of games) to find that chat above? Who was privy to our DMs with Godde last year where he effectively said he didn't see that he was doing anything wrong (in general about harassing moderators and trying to find the edge every single time) and would keep doing what he was doing? And before anyone asks, no, I did not just go through the games to find that chat. We put in the work required to have an informed opinion about the situation before judging it. We went through games and chat logs.

Godde says he wouldn't try to weasel out of this but is working hard on the weaseling two posts later. The week-long ban for a whole set of thrown chicken map games with the chat log above has turned into a bunch of what-if musing that concludes that there is no legitimate way to ban anyone for manipulating their rating.

No. Widespread rating manipulation like this would destroy multiplayer. Intent can be inferred and a line has to be drawn. And in the case of Godde, if we tried to call him out on it rather than just say "no", he'd just abstract the question until he's musing on the nature of justice.
