What is the gesture build menu?

It's an alternative build menu where you select a building to build by hitting 'B', then either hitting a series of keys (based on direction) or moving the mouse to get to the desired building.

If you set your UI to default, select one constructor then right click and drag it will appear. It contains build options for constructors and Athena (but no terraform or area mex). There are options to make it appear in more situations.

I think it is redundant and can just confuse people. I would like to disable it by default but apparently a poll is required first.

It's the menu you can see in the gameplay features trailer for a few seconds and more in my recorded games. In Settings/HUD Panels/Gestures you can untick "Only open with keyboard" to be able to activate it via the right mouse button (hold down rmb, then move the cursor in any of 8 directions to access different building categories).

edit: oh sounds like it's already on by default

I like the factory thing of your recorded games Skasi.

It's "Chili FactoryBar", but I now use "Chili FactoryPanel". It's almost the same.

For what it's worth I prefer to use the gesture build menu (mostly hotkeys though) rather than the ordinary build interface (which obviously I still have to use for terraforming). If there were good hotkeys for the ordinary interface (are there by default?) I could probably get used to that though.

There are good default building hotkeys and using them will probably make you play 100 elo better.

I use gesture and integral menu intermittently, in kb-only mode, without any system of division. For instance, terraform level is VX for me, but caretaker is BWQ.

The ordinay menu hotkeys are ZXCV to open a tab then one of QWERTYASDFGHZXCVBN to select the thing to build. I dislike gesture as a default thing because the other menu does everything it does as well as terraform, commands and factory queue.

That's also something good about Integral Menu aka Command Panel, 2-stroke build hotkeys rather than 3-stroke. Since it also does command states and build queue manipulation in a clean global way, there's a lot another system would have to replace.

You forgot that Integral menu doesn't have factory selection, which required the extra Core Selector window.

[KeyboardMenu + Facpanel] replaces [Integral Menu + Core Selector].

I should get my widget out that handles the whole thing in one fell swoop and have some guinea pigs test it.

Keyboard Menu doesn't have unit states or build queue, and Facpanel build queue has no ability to view or change order. Given that build queue can be seen in order, added to/reduced, and reordered in Integral Menu is really powerful and important, given how fast this game is. Core Selector also provides Commander and idle worker hotkeys and status display, though that's an easier thing to port.

I would love to be the GUInea pig testing your gui if you plan to have gestures, facpanel and something for unitstates replace the current default elements, USrankAdminCarRepairer.
