On my quest to make the website less shitty I have come to ask myself many different questions. This thread should help me find answers. Please keep them short and simple, complex neonstormed features will very likely not be implemented.

Solved..

How to handle overflow?
(look at Living Lands; I can cut off long map/author text or the minimap, admins could be forced to keep text short, I can increase the height for all map entries)

original map page, it can't handle text twice as long either

Does anybody use this list?
(does anybody use it? is there any interest whatsoever? "latest comments" are available in the forum, "highest rated" is definitely not what players like the most and "most downloads" is influenced by missions, etc.)

When browsing maps, does anybody look at rating?
(I'm talking about the map browser, not the map detail page)

The rating is broken. Fix the rating to unlock rating feedback.

1) Put the star to the right or to the left of the map's name.
2) Author name doesn't have to be in the map list.
3) No, I don't use this list.

The star should be much smaller, the height of a capital letter in the title if you put it after the title, or at least 20% smaller if you put it in the top right corner. Before the author name is a very odd place to put it and it breaks the line flow. Top right wins consistency points if you do the same in the map list.

Cut off excessively long author text (bonus for text-overflow: ellipsis), make map title and author text more distinct with size and/or color.

I'd be inclined to hide the author name on the map list altogether as ATrankhokomoko suggested, but right now the search box searches through both map names and authors. Hmmmm....

In theory I can also make the star transparent.

By "to the right" do you mean just right of the name or the top right corner?

But it's already top right there. For consistency I couldn't resize the image.

I would use ellipsis "..." for text that spans more than one line, e.g.
"Original my mestizo and ..."
Also, the minmap, rating, size etc could be aligned to the bottom, giving space to two lines of text at the top (and then use ellipsis for overflow).

What the search searches through does not really matter, since you don't have to display everything that the search uses to find the map. Can you click on the author in the map page? That would also serve as a cue for people to know that the author name can be used for searches.

I would put the star in the front of the map name, e.g. "* FolsomDamDeluxeV4".
The star could be white/grey when not starred/featured/whatever, and golden when featured. This would let people know that there can be a star there, and also make the map names always start from the same position, with/without being starred/featured/whatever the star is for.

Suggestions:

- Fix in some epic way or remove ratings. I've honestly never used them.

- Clean up home page. Remove old PW stuff that still lingers there. Fourms and top player window could stay, but remove social media.

I'd already be happy if the map search wouldn't get stuck loading when scrolling down in every kind of search.

It does that when there's no more results. That's C# and database stuff though, nothing I'll touch anytime soon.

if it does something, THERE SHOULD BE MORE OF EM!

GBrankKyubey check the mouseover on the test server. It should give a hint. :P

aren't all maps featured, seems kinda redundant?

yup, just scrolled through 10 page lengths of "featured" maps...

GBrankKyubey : by default the list only shows featured map.
