Now, I noticed, if I build enough energy structures to excess (Normally by fusion), the "expedenture" (red number) will end up matching the Enery Income..

Is this a bug, or did something glitch out when I play?? If bug, how to fix?

No.

If it is connected into the grid it is called overdrive.

Alternatively the excess energy is given to your allies if you overdrive at your maximum capacity.

So expedenture Rednumber matching Income is overdrive?

What about my non-grid connectors?

If you don't have any mexes connected to your grid or any allies to load your excess energy to then you will excess energy.

Your non-connected energy is prioritized towards usage in your normal economy such as repair, building, rezurecting.
Then your energy bar will be completely filled up with remainder of the energy.
If one of your allies is estalling then the remaining energy will go to them.
If you still have some energy afterwards and it is connected to the grid, then it will overdrive your mexes.
Next if there is still some left it will be granted to your allies that don't have the full storage/capacity to overdrive.

If all above fails then your energy will be completely wasted and excess will happen.

usage -> storage -> ally estall -> overdrive -> ally storage and ally overdrive

This is the same case with metal income but without the overdrive part.

That's not quite right. Overdrive never leaves anything behind, so energy goes to non-maxed allies before OD. Energy to OD applies to allies automatically since it's shared and energy is distributed to all connected allied mexes as if they were your own. It's also redundant.

usage->storage->non-maxed allies->overdrive

The reason your energy usage is showing that it matches your income is probably drain from overdrive though. I think the not-yet-released new ui has resource bars that show OD gains/drains more clearly.

Storage does not have 100% priority over OD though. The ratio between energy going to storage and OD depends on how full your storage is. When it is not completely full/empty, some energy will go to OD.

Also worth pointing out, a player can estall and have their Skuttles uncloaked even though their team's grid is red.

How? This made no sense...

One portion of excess energy is shared to allies, another portion of excess energy is used for overdrive. If the portion for allies is smaller than their energy usage then they will stall energy. If the portion for overdrive is big enough and the link-situation permits then grids will be red.

...which is quite unfortunate. there are commanders that outlived their final time because skuttle decloaked for energy distribution failure.

IMO energy should always be equalized between all team members, having to give energy buildings to allies shouldn't be a requirement for team play. If somebody is stalling their whole team by spamming infiltrators, kick he.

Esp since the team pays for 50% of every energy structure. The current system definitely seems broken at any rate.

So, we kick now for making things that people disagree with?

Honestly, I don't think sharing energy to allies units is really useful, they should only go to their Mexes to Overdrive so we don't end up having the situation YourFriend has theorised about. It's a bit detrimental, but it is much easier to just make a fusion and get the energy that is required.

I don't want to be forced to build structures I shouldn't be building though.

There is no point in playing a team game without a team. Play FFA if you think in terms of "your energy" and "your units".

The "issues" we're having with trolling and griefing are just because we're playing a game mode designed around cooperation while expecting it to work without. Maybe what we really need is a 1v1/FFA with a few AIs by our side to achieve the desired "my actions don't decide the game" effect that everybody loves.

I fear this will not work because having someone to blame is addictive, while having something to blame is not.

Blaming AI would just not feel right, because everyone gets the same AI. This is why while dotalikes do have their AI sidekicks (creeps), they also invariably have human teammates that can be blamed for being cyka blyat.

I already thought of that.

To actually be constructive I would like to suggest a new clusterfuck mode: instead of assuming cooperation, this game mode is based on obligatory rules of engagement. All overdrive belongs to you, your mexes are your mexes, excess metal is only shared with selected peers. Your "allies" are not targetable, this assures "Team play". In order to always achieve proper clusterfuck, the teams will be filled with a random mixture of Circuit, CSI, KGB, CAI and RAI. All of which are carrying proper names and are thus indistinguishable from the random mute lane lobsters*. I have no doubts that RAI with a real name will make the perfect blame target for most blamers. The AI not communicating just adds to the role.

* "Studies" have shown that half of clusterfuck players never use the chat nor conduct any strategical planning.

I'm not sure about the others, but KGB is pretty bad at being a lane lobster.

It's easy to tell:
Circuit rushes very quickly and porcs at ridiculous volumes. It also retreats back into it's fortress
CAI makes armies and raids with small units. CAI rarely porcs.
RAI just wastes money.

Very easy to tell it's an AI.
