The itch.io release push is complete. Thanks to everyone who contributed, commented or configured the page. Here is the link: https://zerok.itch.io/zero-k

How does this affect those here? Many reading this already have Zero-K. Well, itch.io is potentially a way to gain players but it takes a little interaction on our part. If people could
  • Create itch account and rate or review our itch page,
  • Refer friends/strangers via our itch page,
  • Generally be whatever a "Mobilized Fanbase" is,
then we should climb in the itch rankings and be seen by many more people. You need itch to rate or review but it seems worth getting in any case, it's like a game jam that never stops giving.

In the zero-k ingame chat, there's some information going around about 450 downloads, but only 2 new registered users. We created more fake users than actual joins lol.

I don't think there's any data to support this "fake users" claim

Its fake users in the sense that we have more comments from current zero-k veterans on the itch io page than we do players.

I measure about 40 new users, but I don't know how much to trust the numbers.

Do you have a way to measure player influx from itch.io specifically?

EDIT: Also, where can one see ratings other people gave? I wrote a review with some text as well, but I don't see it anywhere. I can only see what comments people wrote, but I don't think those are ratings.

good work with that DeinFreund and everyone involved(afaik DF was the initiator),this should bring some much needed publicity.
From what i see so far though is that most reviews are ppl from our community.
On tracking the statistics,if you can see exactly how many new users we had in the past 2-4 years, and make an avarage per month, you can after that compare the results from that avarage with results since itch.io release, and make a rough estimation of the effect it has.

Yeah, in general it would be cool to have access to some statistics, like played games, active players, and so on...

But hey, we already reached 29, 5 star raitings :)
Thats a good start, but hey, i think our community can do bether, dont you think the same?
Dont forget, the more players the community has, the more fun we get!
