Water is as shallow as it can be and still allow passage of sub and carrier. If problems occur because of depth it can be made shallower but at a cost.

The water is deep enough that it drastically slows shield bot movement (I assume cloakies have similar issues).
My problem with it is that it isn't visually obvious that's going to happen.

Scylla, Shogun and Reef are striders, so it's kinda okay for them to behave weird, and you can afford to deepen the riverbed if you can afford those.

The only "real unit" affected by turning shallows into fords would thus be Seawolf, which i consider non-critical because it cannot harm economy.

(Also i'd love for Seawolf to be able to surface to pass fords, but that's another story).
