Also, im not sure that map size has much to do with preventing rushes. Ive seen raaars banisher rushes work on desert needle too many times.

In SC2 its mandatory to scout enemy base at the start of every game to make sure you aren't being cheesed.

This is no different in ZK. NOrankAdminKingstad didnt scout, that's all there is to this game.

I will admit though that I'm feeling lately that rushing almost always pays off. Its not just a small map thing either, even on a bigger one like trojan hills, if you make 3 pyros instantly instead of being the guy who rush cons (me) it almost seem guaranteed to pay off.

Maybe it's another thing that comes down to the picket nerf. You can't reliably defend with LLTs at all, not even close. So if you made cons and they made unit/s youre kind of screwed.

tanks have no cheap scouts, cheapest one being the 160m kodachi. And if you're paying for one that might get killed by a pair of raiders, might as well build two, which makes the whole thing more expensive.

Kodachi is a really strong early game unit and is very fast, it is a perfectly capable scout unless youre making tanks on some janky bot map

Zero-K Forums: "Tanks are too good on every map even the ones they shouldn't be good on!"

Also Zero-K Forums: "I'm going tanks on a small bot map and getting cheesed because tank scouts aren't good enough!"

I'm not saying tanks are bad, they're great atm, just that their expensive scout makes them more vulnerable to cheese, especially if they're rushing something themselves.

All this adds to the blind rps aspect of ZK's early game.
