Would fit the cloakybots theme, and buffs a unit that is struggeling to find its place.

Edit: Post ur opinion or other suggestions for cloaky arty if u have any :3

Nah, sling for its price is nice i think. It have its place - killing light porc and be annoying. :D
I wanna cloaked knight/zeus.

Killing light porc could be a unique role for a arty unit (most arty units are better vs stinger and up/units). But in its current state it fails to really make cost vs anything but picket. In the same timeframe other arty would wipe the floor with unit balls and heavy porc, sling manages to kill a lotus (which every skirm already does, but better).

sling would be acceptable at 70m cost. as it is now you make rockos for light porc and snipers for everything bigger.
(i still would not build them if they were 70m, useless is useless)

Never benefited from sling personally. The highest impact I got out of them was making the enemy decide to invest more attention to the porc at the location I wanted them to build it anyway.

Useless unit indeed.

Mentioned a possible high arcing, high aoe mortar idea. It would really fit the sling visually tbh. But the balance would be a nightmare.

I want zeus and all lightning gun units to reload faster the closer they are (less charge needed) and reduce stun time. Like 30% increase in dps at close range and 30% decrease at max.

It could be achieved by giving them a resource similar to old archer which would increase their range (similar to old archer) and be consumed whole with a shot (unlike old archer). Reload is faster and base range is reduced significantly (3 times) with max charge gaining original range buffed by 10%.
Halve the stun lockdown time.

It would make zeus great again, would make scorp less uninteractive to play against (it would have to be closer to achieve full lockdown again) and would make Blitz great again (it would benefit the most as it has the easiest time closing the distance).

cloaked sling? bad idea as it's not something that sneaks up on people, it doesn't have enough burst or dps and is generally out of range.

in terms of balance, sling is fine now, it's an artillery unit that outranges nearly all static defense and has relatively good dps/cost. At 70m cost it would be grossly overpowered.

People ask for artillery that can "only" hit buildings and then complain that it feels generally useless....

Sling has one of the slowest projectiles of any artillery unit and is one of the slowest-moving artillery units. It's generally only effective against buildings. The unit description says it's effective against mobile units, but the stats say otherwise.

Against LLT/Stardust Ronin is a better choice, because it also does skirmisher things.

Against HLT most players are likely to build a Phantom instead, because it can also burst down many high threat mobile units you're likely to see mid-game and later.

Against heavily shielded porc Sling might be the best choice, because this can be a case where DPS is better than burst for artillery. Since shielded porc is not seen in competitive play, Sling is not considered a competitive unit.

I would say that Sling has a place, it's just not a place anybody cares about on the ladder. Also the unit description is misleading.

The cloak would not be used offensively, its would fulfill a more defensive role to keep ur arty hidden from air/raiders.
This would turn sling into a low risk/low reward arty.

raaar sling hits not even buildings most of the time.

I've watched slings be able to hit pickets on radar.
I've also watched slings be not able to hit pickets on radar and fire at them for XXXX shots before you realize.

So there's a concept of radar inaccuracy. What's not at all clear is why and when it applies and wtf you're meant to do about it with a unit like the sling.

Change angle? Suicide a unit to get sight? Send in a 2.x cost scythe or gremlin and hope it doesn't get spotted? No. We just meant to go to all the effort of facswitching planes and getting an owl just to get Tru-Vision of the offending picket so the slings can hit it? Bich is u crazy? If you can afford that, a picket isn't your problem now.

That's what kills sling. Radar inaccuracy, and anything that actually solves radar inaccuracy costing way more than slings.

Sparkles you probably can also use your constructor for spying that probably is somewhere around.

First: i agree with sparkles.
second: can someone come up with a scenario that would justify building this discount-version of arty?
if your opponent only has very light porc, you are better off with ronin or even knight. And instead of building 15 slings or so if you fight heavier porc you could facswitch into tanks and build emissary, wich has the same functionality but AoE for some reason. Hey, why not take the AoE away from emissary and give it to sling, while keeping their main damage unaffected? Sling AoE bombardment sounds useful. Or cancerous.

radar wobble is a separate problem.

devs probably meant for people to use los from cloaked bots or vultures to scout, or make the more expensive big radar to remove the wobble.

i'd remove the wobble mechanic completely.

Gotta be honest, radar wobble has to be hands down the most randomized game-fuxxing thing I've ever seen in an RTS.

but it surely prevents your enemy from camping outside your base 1 hitting everything you've got without even interacting with you or bothering in any way...

It may be annoying but it's a game mechanic that's adding depth to the game tactics, if you don't scout, your indirect fire won't land hits as often.

idk, personally i just don't find it like such an annoying feature (even if it got me to the nerve when phantoms waste their shots on pure air) but i can disable "radar targeting" and only let em fire at LOS targets.

but i agree with you, it's still annoying from time to time, but i like the challenge of having to infiltrate to increase the effectiveness of otherwise, OP "out ranged" damage that would turn games into mass rushing artys erasing bases from the outside-in.

<3 what's your thoughts about it?
