Game start failure: can I fix this or must I wait for an update?

When I try to play either a campaign game or skirmish, the map loads, I am given a choice as to where to place my commander, the game seems to accept it, then the unit disappears and the game comes to a draw. This has happened twice now, once after each Spring upgrade (based on the dashboard announcements.)

The first time, a fix came a few hours or a day or so after. This time its been a while. Is this something that I can fix? Deleting a preference file, some caches, or something like that? Reasonably, but not hyper-techy.

I'm using a pretty strong Linux Mint machine, tonnes of ram, lots of juice in all the relevant places.

Suggestions or pointers to threads on how to fix?

Thank you.

When you start a Skirmish lobby (advanced setup), what does it say the Zero-K version is?

1.7.3.7

Additionally, I have deleted the content of the /Games folder, it has re-downloaded them, with no change.

This is a known issue: https://github.com/ZeroK-RTS/Zero-K-Infrastructure/issues/2558

I was able to fix it by wiping out every trace of ZK and reinstalling on Linux with the itch.io installer. You can safely preserve the maps directory to speed things up.

You can probably keep your savegames and maybe campaign state, but I don't know where it would be.

Fixed! The solution was simply to delete the entire Zero-K folder, and reinstall the latest (semi portable) version which I got from itch.io
