There are overlaps in the brackets, this is so that you don't change rank every game if you are right on the line between two ranks. It doesn't matter how long you stay there, the only way to rank up or down is to go over the threshold and be clearly inside the new bracket.

That's right! You can have 2 2400 WHR players, same skill, one silver, one purple. At this point, the rank colors have failed at their only job: to give people a rough estimate of how good a player is.

I frankly doubt that the "change rank every game if you are right on the line" is even a problem. Even if it is, it's nothing compared to the absurdity we have right now.

Those windows are ridiculously large.

The windows depend on your current uncertainty. CZrankpsaniac has high uncertainty so his windows are large. The version that's been sitting idle on test server for the past few months would replace that by fixed windows.

I wondered why I get stuff when players go idle instead of purple players, its pretty silly.

Define rough. I think the current rank colors are good at that. It is a question if you want to include the variability effect in the color (how sure you are of a rank) or you are happy with just the average.

For me what we have makes sense but the problem is it is explained in obscure forum posts. I like the current status. Even a genius solution not explained is loosing a lot of its value...
