Map vote could have an option to keep current map

Even if 95% of players prefer the current map, one player saying !map switches to a new map. If one of the options was current map, or there was a small button to stay on the same map, this seems like it would solve the problem.

one thing to warn you about is BA DSD if you know what that means =D

and if you dont..

in balanced annhialation a spring rts engine mod.. players played the same map delta seige dry.. they played it over and over until it was joked had become the only map in the game..

its relivant because this game was once that game in more ways then not. hmm i cant remember if this was made from ?xta? or something like that but i played them all even kernal panic lol... anyway point is if you dont enforce diversity it sometimes dissapears im not sure why.

True, BAR has the same problem, 60% are playing Isthmus or Glitters at any given time, even though they have many more rooms than us.

I think if !map had an option for "CURRENT MAP" and the automap change at the end of a match didn't that would solve both problems.

IMO if people want to play a smaller map pool, that's fine. I will do anything to reduce the amount of time wasted on votes and restarts. Many maps seem just worse to me. I'm not sure, but it seems like people are attached to the idea of variety as an abstraction. It's unclear to me what level of variety is good for better games on average. Most RTS have around 10 in the pool at a time with a few bans avai?

The maps I like, I could play all day. Maybe I'm built different, but the vote to constantly change to worse maps represents only a frustration to me.

Yeah, I've been a big advocate of unfeaturing trash maps. I also think keeping maps featured but delisting them from teams/1v1 categorization so they don't come up for a vote unless someone specifically requests one is underutilized.

I will say that there are quite a few people out there that have a different perspective on what makes a map good or bad. Someone who is just there to have fun casually will vote for weird and exotic maps much more often than someone who is there to have fun competitively.
