Good day,

I do have really high CPU usage and ping ingame. This wasn't the case back the years, when I played ZK.

Now I'm running ZK via Ubuntu & terminal. Not sure, if this have something do to with it, but it seems someone is looking constantly for SteamAPI. Other then that all is fine. My system is like 10 years old - although this haven't been a problem earlier.

then use steams verify file integrity feature to make sure your game files are not corrupted =)
your running it via terminal not steam? so your not also running steam? you should be running steam via terminal then launch it through steam.. thats how i used to do it with linux.

Post the infolog_full.txt. This is the game client, the menu logging, not the actual game. The error-spam is not nice but shouldn't be an issue.

Thanks for the feedback. :)

infolog from yesterday as follows:

[Spoiler]

I switched from Windows/Steam setup to Ubuntu and to run via Terminal only, as it seemed Ubuntu/Steam via snap was way more heavy. So, as mentioned in https://zerok.itch.io/zero-k the 3rd option via Linux:
quote:

sudo apt-get mono-complete libmono-system-windows-forms4.0-cil libcurl4 libmono-system-runtime-serialization4.0-cil libmono-system-net-http4.0-cil
mkdir Zero-K
cd Zero-K
wget https://zero-k.info/lobby/Zero-K.exe
chmod u+x Zero-K.exe
mono Zero-K.exe

Now I'm trying the 2nd option via Linux, as mentioned in https://zerok.itch.io/zero-k

quote:

Install the following libraries (execute in terminal):

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install libsdl2-2.0-0 libopenal1 libcurl3

Download the semi-portable archive, extract to a writable directory, and run Zero-K.bin.x86_64 in terminal.

Also strange, when in ZK, my location flag shows I'm in Ireland, although located in Germany and not using VPN. This haven't happend before, but is status quote for some weeks now.

When checking the systems processes, recoil-main is the major RAM sucker.

This is normal, as I know. It is very single threaded. I hope it's getting better with the graphics update. Some people in our clan have problems, when there are to many units on the field, even with relativly new PCs. For Zero-K a fast CPU is better. You can Limit the amount of Units in the options.

For the location topic:
Vodafone has changed it's peering in december. I've seen that there is some hopping in the IPv6to4 tunnel.

I've seen this also on smaller ISPs. It seems like the location service providers have problems with the updates, caused by the IPv4 shortage. It happens when someone is auctioning the IP blocks and they are relocated.

Thank you, this helped a lot.

This mean also, based on my current hardware I won't be able to enjoy any lobpot, due to heavy lag starting about midgame. Is also not nice for other lobs to have laglobs around. May 1:1 is a better option compared to pot.

disable steam overlay may help a bit.

you specs are weak. maybe invest some tiny budget? i bought this 2nd hand PC for 200€ and i got no problems whatsoever with ZK, mostly 60FPS in 32 player lobpot.
