Ok I just had another game where reef (3500 cost) was doing super stupid stuff. But the unit is just abysmal to play against.

Disarm missiles with 15000 disarm dmg that home and have 3000 range and can go right through shields and have large aoe.

It is basically zeno + shockley. To compare, zeno has 10000 slow, shockley has 30000 stun. But reef missile is only 150 metal!!!

So it's a moving missile silo (that can be jumped by lobster or moved by hercules) with the most busted missiles that can completely shut down an entire game by just disarming everything, even the missile silos you try to hit it with.

It also has 7500 hp - that is 3 eos that costs 1500. Even still optimal play just means they can dodge.

Even though it might not be that good of a unit its still extremely unfun to play against, and needs some sort of change. Maybe a reduction in missile range and increase in price. I'm not sure where it fits but where it fits right now is completely shutting teams games down.

Like to compare to flash siloing:

Silo is 1200, with 4000 hp, surrounded by very easy to kill builders. Then the silo maker has to make the missile. It's a big play.

Reef can be jumped around using lobster to position it in a way that it can stun the target, such as a SW. But it could also stun a detriment, like what???

I watched that game you are making a rant post about. Your team had 100k less metal then the enemy. If the enemy had build other units instead of 10 reefs and 100 disarm missiles, you would likely have lost even faster.

They're arguing that it's unfun to play against, not necessarily that it's unbalanced. If the game had ended faster, they'd probably be less frustrated.

i miss the good old times, when reef had built-in mobile anti which therefore was, indeed, cloakable.
