I think they are exceptional raiders, possibly the best. Are they OP?

They are very fast, have relatively high range, have burst damage weapon with perfect accuracy and can pass over water. Especially the combination of speed and skirmishing armament is the issue. Reducing their speed or range or both would help.

They are very fast, they have relatively decent range and good burst, and they have absolutely godawful DPS, are made of papier-mâché, and tend to take losing trades against anything they can't overwhelm. Daggers also don't maintain relevance very long into a typical game.

A lot like blitzes, honestly- given the right fight, they certainly look overpowered, but there's a reason you don't see them spammed the way people will spam glaives, bandits, or ducks, and they don't even do the early game as well as a good kodachi.

I've been seeing glaives trading about evenly with dagger recently. Maybe I'm not good enough at the dagger micro though.

I understand that dagger is situational, but the situation in which it shines can be match-deciding in 1v1 or small teams.

Raiders are often match deciding in 1v1 and small team games.

I feel dagger are very strong. They have mostly good raider matchups, and they midnight as AA. I think they're probably the best overall raider rn, but I'm not sure whether they're OP or not. They aren't as good at diving stuff as other raiders later in the game, but you have halbard for that in the same fac.

It depends on the map and the number of players.

The less players, bigger, and flatter the map, the stronger they are.

Borderline OP in those situations I think. Very hard to deal with except with kodachis.

Otherwise they are fine.

And yes... they are one of the units I am wary of as air.

Oh, and daggers are anti-sub and anti-air, as well.

mass daggers can be strong when used as a suprise weapon, but enemy can adapt to it quickly and it becomes useless

Yes, but this applies to most units. That daggers give a strong power spike becomes an issue in small teams or 1v1 matches, where an early advantage can quickly lead to snowballing and decide the match.

Does this discussion have a real focal point? Why would a dagger be OP? They lose every direct raider to raider engagement solo. What specifically would make them OP?

Yes this is pedantic, but I don't think any message in this thread actually says why dagger is strong and convinces me it needs changing. If you pull it's speed slower than another raider bam, irrelevant unit in raider combat. Range? Also bam, very hard to actually hit a broadside. That does more than 600 damage on a single target. You want a 2% change? So it still does the thing but it's even more elitist to pull off?

What that dagger does now should it not be able to do?

Dagger has unusual strengths and weaknesses compared to other raiders. In the abstract that is not a problem. Empirical data from replays might show that there is a practical problem. Without replays I don't think this conversation can get very far.

Daggers are very good. But they are not the best raider (and certainly not OP). They suffer significantly from poor turn rate, they don't have good dps, they struggle against lotuses and in low numbers they lose against the other raiders.

Cheap fast burst unit, what can possibly go wrong
