Springlobby 147 now disables "online play" if you attempt to connect with the unitsync.so from spring 0.88. Unfortunately, this means all linux users are now locked out of z-k. :(

Is it possible to tell Springie to start servers with engine version 0.89? My Windows-using friend was able to create a .88 and then use !setengine to change it to 0.89, but since I cannot even join rooms, I can't do it that way.
Is there something like
!spawn mod=zk:stable,engine=0.89 ?

Actually, it seems I can do exactly what he did:
Double click a Springie bot on the Official Server channel on chat
!spawn mod=zk:stable,title=something,password=seekret
then join the 88.0 battle called "something" with password "seekret"
then do:
!setengine 89.0
You will be booted while the engine is changed. Join the same battle again.

You can set DisableVersionCheck in springlobby.conf (or whatever the equivalent file on Linux is) to 1.

Setting DisableVersionCheck=1 allows to see and join rooms. Then the ZK rooms complain that "You will desync ...". I tried starting a game, and it starts 0.88 as it should, but then the game froze before I could build anything. Don't know if it's just me.

@ KingRaptor

Yes

A few more details for Linux users:
File is located at
~/.springlobby/springlobby.conf
On my system the option is on line 21 (just search for "DisableVersionCheck" if you don't see it)
Make sure springlobby is closed when you change the file (else it may appear to undo that change when it is closed and ignore it in the meantime).

DisableVersionCheck=1 confirmed to work. After the initial hiccup, I was able to play and finish games.

You stole my avatar!

PS in notalobby dididint even noticed that spring engine was updated... version checking was disabled long time ago :)

Awwww, options in the .conf file that aren't exposed in the UI. Cute. Thanks everyone! This is now a non-issue since all of the z-k hosts have been updated.

Is there anyway to have multiple versions of the spring engine installed side-by-side?

does this affect windows too? because i get desync too, and dont see anything populated on map, only labes and moving cursors.

i will try to do the DisableVersionCheck and see what happens.

edit: where is this file? i found one in spring dir which is empty...

i play on zklobby ;) i guess im wrong here. problem remains though...

I would call it a feature :P - disables spec cheating in most ways!

The main problem for me with the new engine is, that it is even laggier with chili and terra than it was before

88-deb archives for (k)ubuntu users:
https://launchpad.net/~spring/+archive/ppa/+sourcepub/2324417/+listing-archive-extra

(you need the spring-common (first DL) and spring (the last two) )

you may need https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/boost1.40

Just put all .deb package files in one folder and run:
> sudo dpkg --install SpringPackages/*.deb
You may try> dpkg --help
Or this too> man dpkg
