Please notice that this is not about zero-K though.
It is about Forb's "Evolution RTS" game.

I actually was talking about ZK. Those bits from #evo were a good example to use though.

For example in HON or LOL there is much more hate and screaming if you do something wrong in the game.

Just because it is worse somewhere else does not mean that people will not be offended by it here. Personally, I am not in any way offended, but some people are and I think people like RUrankpaShadoWn who are quite clearly writing in the most offensive manner they can are turning people away from the game.

USrankAdminCarRepairer brings up a good point. We've often more 'brash' with people we know because you know whether they will take offense. It's 'joking' and in 'good fun'.

I think this happens with online communities too. The thing about online communities is that people can be present but hidden. People forget that they are not just around people they've known for a while.

I fully disagree, as I think the most respected warriors of history were known for their respective honor codes. If anything, attempting to bully people is a sign of weakness, because you don't have the confidence to let your abilities speak for themselves.

I find it hilarious to find this language ("timid", "porcer") etc be used by a person who just skips combat units in every game he plays.

If you watch the best RTS players in the world, they are the most polite, humble, well mannered people. Hell, to call someone 'bad mannered' is this huge massive insult in Starcraft. I mean, to think of all the things you can say about someone, 'bad mannered' is the worst?!

Even Spring has it. Godde is always mannered.

Respect your opponent.

You really stopped playing? Even Godde rages sometimes. :)

Example of godde raging: "performance of player x was suboptimal" :P

I'm pretty sure that new players have to be more communicating. Nothing hurts you more then new player that afraid of asking questions.
The second thing is reading. Even if it's too hard to read manual, read chat and signs of other players in game atleast.
I'm not that mad at new player for failing if i never told him anything yet i'm kinda mad cause he never asked. But what frustrates the most is then you actually give advices or tell them what to do but they don't bother reacting to your words at all.
I agree that some people are pretty harsh to new players yet they still understandable.

Compared to other games like LoL or Dota, Zk community is 10/10.
We just have some people who like to do troll stuff (read "most effective" but not allways) like Sfireman.

That sucks, but all you can do is let it be. Their elo will drop until they finally learn. Someone being stubborn is not a license to be rude.

While I haven't played in a while (due to me not having the time to spend on getting 91.x to run on arch) I really must side with the ones saying the zero-k community is okay.

Most new players will get helpful advice from both teammates and spectators, even opponents from time to time. Could it be better, possibly, but it's way above your average gameing community. Contrast this with certain other games, where any sub par player will have their sexuality questioned, their mother insulted and be told to leave and uninstall the game, and we can count ourselves quite lucky.

Plus for pic lel. I have a succubus for mother so it is quite 'familiar'.

Why? Because i choose to. In expectation that you will quit your whining and at last start seriously cursing me. So i can see whether i am wimpy enough to succumb to it. Or ban me so i can go troll someplace else before returning with a proxy. I am not yet convinced you had used all your arcenal on me.
You should take example from LoL community who had used all the kinds of mind control, hexes and alterations on me without holding back and without going overboard as i am still alive.

quote:
Well, damn. You should have been the son of Andrei Sakharov and become an expert on nuclear physics instead.

True, Satan worshippers could use better nooks to burninate moar civilians. But i am way too lazy to actually do something.

Games about daemons, black magicks and mass carnage tend to attract a certain element, you should be grown up enough to understand it. And i have exactly 'that' background as i had come from Diablo into DotA into LoL.

I cannot even count the number of times, I have played with only fleas, and could at any moment have destroyed a new player in 1 vs 1. I never did though, I always toyed around with eco and self-d my defense( or turn them completely off, as soon as they started attacking me.

EGrankbatman, you are a gentleman. If they made hats that fit me, I would put one on just to doff it.

Found something interesting. I believe it's a great source of knowledge for this topic.
