Code of Conduct for maps

Code of Conduct for maps? Is it required? What rules/guidelines should it contain?

It started with swastika map, then there were complains about various map names, and there are some pornographic maps (heightmap, metalmap). Should someone check new maps before they get uploaded to all servers?

If Spring/Zero-K wants to get larger this is an issue that needs to be tackled.

What about a Code of Conduct for windmills? I've noticed that some people don't like my swastika winmill fields

What impression of the community do these maps give?

Handing out bans (or crucifixions) to people making such maps would help a lot if it is within the jurisdiction of ZK admins. Can maps be completely erased never to be seen again?

Admins can't (or at least, shouldn't) be able to ban people for making maps if there isn't a Code of Conduct for maps and the general one doesn't state anything about them

why is this an issue, if the map is not liked for whatever reason, it doesnt pass vote.

Seriously, this is a no-brainer. Give me one good reason to keep maps that are commonly considered offensive around. And don't give me that "define what you consider offensive" bs, if you don't think the admins are responsible enough to properly handle such simple map problems then just... You know, find other admins. Not necessarily here.

Because the whole process around which ZK is based is democracy. If enough people vote a map because they like it, why should they not be able to play it?

First time i hear that the first and foremost principle of ZK is democracy. Where'd you get that from?

Perhaps a way for users to flag maps for potential removal similar to how reporting users works.

Post in the maps comment thread if you think it needs to be removed.

Youtube doesn't check every piece of content uploaded, flickr, imgur and tumblr doesn't.

Removal of content in response to valid complaints is fine.

Those maps are all super old. Without people digging them up they would be long forgotten.
Or if you want to dig them up, springfiles.com already has working report function.
You can mostly not punish the people who made those maps because they left years ago.
The rules for content should be common sense without writing everything down to the smallest detail.

Btw what about clans:
http://zero-k.info/Clans/Detail/347 clan description: "kiss my fucking ass"

http://zero-k.info/Clans/Detail/355 clan name: SS-Division Totenkopf (WW2 division "famous" for their war crimes) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3rd_SS_Panzer_Division_Totenkopf#War_crimes

http://zero-k.info/Clans/Detail/447 NS related clan symbol. yes yes of all the available runes you just happend to randomly pick this one without knowing about its usage.

Knorke: One of the maps with an offensive name (in Finnish) was featured. My recommendation was to change the name or unfeature it.

I don't think we need to police unfeatured maps, or clan names and symbols. But maps that we feature are those we hold to high standards, and I think those standards should include not being offensive.

We have to get these players back to the game in order to ban them as a punishment!

Isn't all of this noted in the terms of service that everyone accepts without reading and then forgets they accepted?
