Oh, that reminds me of the landing page thread. Started turning it into code, but stopped after some time. When you say "but site needs some improvements", do you mean the landing page or the page ZKL HOME uses?

Landing page is a priority but of course whole site needs improvements :-)

Not sure if this is an invitation to make other requests... It would be nice if the server-side problems regarding newer engines were solved, since this is (apparently) one of the blocking issues (and investigation require more knowledge of deployment/server than any other performance or ATI problem). quote:
Regarding demo - it's not folder issue, I had fixed that already. Dedi server just won't save any demo at all.. Sometimes it does but most games nothing gets written. Cause is unknown...

-> http://code.google.com/p/zero-k/source/detail?r=12418this question isn't answered: "is spring-dedicated.exe killed by springie or does it crash/hang?"

The System.Diagnostics.Process handle created by StartProcess which launches Spring could be presumably retained and queried for its Process.ExitCode property on quit. Not trusting myself with blind change, does anybody else have the... whatever is required to dev/test .net stuffs?

Hardest problem is getting that information back to us + deploying springie without breaking too many games, since every deployment -> break all running games..

Can it just append to server infolog file right after Spring is confirmed dead? Then it's easily visible to admins, and no breakage for players. There don't seem to be other recent Springie changes, so deploying is just a matter of picking a time when least players are around (which can be rather safe to delegate to anyone with commit access and capacity to lurk around while monitoring player load).

Can you not have a broadcast on all Springiees and Platinums etc. to announce a game breakage in e.g. 30 minutes?

Lobby needs improving before Greenlight, my friend sadly said that "it is worst looking lobby i have ever seen" :(

> Hardest problem is getting that information back to us + deploying springie without breaking too many games, since every deployment -> break all running games.. that should on go to the todo! allow changes to springie / deploy springie without breaking running games.

Steam is going to stop with greenlight. So you might wanna be quick.

Abma it does not break running games but it wont record them because springie becomes detached from the dedicated process.

If Greenlight is soon dead, it's maybe not worth the 80 euros...

Licho: thats what you wrote: "Hardest problem is getting that information back to us + deploying springie without breaking too many games, since every deployment -> break all running games.."

Yes the spring game runs until end, but is not recorded and lobby game disappears. Which is pretty disruptive and people hate it. But technically spring game runs until the end.

Spring on an independently hosted Springie runs to completion, game is saved, exit code 0. Unsure what happens on "real" Springie, but it's not a "logic" problem. Possibly something breaks under load.

old server afaik is heavily broken (disk errors, etc). i guess one of the reasons why migration isn't finished yet. but the old server won't self heal. so possible some of the problems are caused by the old server, but idk.
