Hello all

How to fight snipers with spiders?
Flea? But, if he mixes with glaive or warrior?
Make a mountain+crabe ?
What do you suggest?

Thx!

Suicide the fleas. Worth the cost for exposing the sharpshooter. Just have something else ready to do the killing once he's exposed.

caveat: I am not good at this game.

Infiltrators might be useful.

Massing infiltrators and making them split-attack an enemy Zeus ball?

That's a great idea Skasi!!!

Well each one does cost less than a Zeus. Also Infiltrator will decloak a sniper without being decloaked itself.

USrankAutoWar um actually I meant just to decloak the Sharpshooters and get sight on Warriors/Glaives Slaab mentioned without dying to everything like Fleas would, but your idea sounds good too yeah! Tho I wonder why you talk about Zeus, yes they're good against spiders, but Slaab didn't mention them.

FRrankSlaab another idea: Place Fleas beforehand. Either rush 10+ at gamestart and spread them over the map (make sure to replace casualties), or make 5+ after you hear the first sniper shot, place them at your current front and retreat a bit with the rest of the army. Now hope enemy sharpshooters get close enough to your Fleas. :)

Keep in mind that retreating might be an okay option when you give up an un-mexxed/metal-less area, but not if you have to give up many mexes/metal spots. Of course this all depends on metal values and other situations.

Setting some fleas on patrol or repeat move will also spoof the snipers, making the snipers unable to fire at radar dots profitably and forcing them to be fired manually. Patrolling fleas will also decloak spotting Gremlins.

You've basically already figured it out man, Crabe and Fleas.

Fleas are the counter, one of the best. They work great on sniper/scythe but against glaives/warrior or snipers on the edge of a defense line they're just to reveal the snipers so you can keep a tab on them.

Your lategame (If it's sniper it's getting into lategame) combo for Spider is basically Crabe + Fleas. Crabe 1-shots snipers, has the range to fight them, has AoE to reveal them easily and can tank them for days while armoured. You just want to keep enough fleas about that you know where his snipers are, so that you can stay stationary and armoured if the snipers are around. Sniper only has 100 range on Crabe, so you can force fire at max range to hit them with the AoE or if you know they're cloaked nearby. He will try and put his snipers on holdfire and fire them all at once the moment you move. So the climax matchup for both factories is all down to micro, timing and intel (As the climax matchup for most factories should be if designed well).

Crabe basically crushes everything else in the cloak factory, and sniper basically 1-shots every other, expensive spider unit. You can potentially get sorrounded by Zeus but Crabe still has the edge there.

By lategame you can also switch factory to something like Halberd or Thunderbird if you want a proper hardcounter rather than a skill matchup.
