I made current ZKL to run on NET4.0 (which hopefully work on WindowXP).
Try this if you need it:
http://zero-k.info/lobby/Zero-K_NET4.0_(winXP).exe
This version won't update automatically. Don't turn-on Auto update or it will get the NET4.5.1 version.

Except that it still says about the need for .NET 4.5.1, it went fine for me.
One thing I couldn't test was to start spring itself because I was on virtual machine.
Oh yeah, almost forgot that it shows console (not sure if it's intentional or not).

oh, thanks! Will disable the NET4.5.1 message.
Don't know what cause it to show console at the moment.

Tested it on WinXP SP3 32bit and it works well. I am able to join games and everything.
No .NET 4.5.1 messages showed.
