Since i like this game a lot i was thinking if we can all post things here regarding on ---How we see the future of Zero-K--- in terms of :
-Future graphics
-More strategy game development
-Increased CPU speed while using tons of units
-And more

Il ask honestly from the admin community to remove the useless comments or troll comments from this thread. I care about this game and i want to see the big picture in case we will have people helping it develop it better and better.

So first of il i want to post my personal opinion on how this game future will work well:

-In terms of future graphics it will be best (if we have the developer power, like tons of players) if we have the extreme Hd graphics like other games have and the normal graphics that makes game run smooth even with thousands of units on the battlefield.

-Regarding the strategy game development i was thinking that Zero-k is doing awesome on the Planet Fight unit against unit or units against units.
But i want to expand more because i think we need to:
a)make Space battles viable with added ships , battle ships,
b)true simulation of galaxy,
c)planet movement and so on.

In this situation we have a few games where Zero-k can be strongly compatible with if we mange to fusion them Together. I am talking here about:
Space engine game who can provide endless galxy simulation in realtime at extreme fast speeds (good for a big RTS games where you conquer galaxies and have galactic fights, system fights and so on)
Star Ruler 2 who can show how easy it is to have nice space battles in realtime space( of course the building on planet feature it has is kind of big fail )

-Regarding the increased CPU while running this game even if you have tons of units on the : Planet, System, Galaxy and so on
I dont think its impossible to make graphics in a way where you can have nice gameplay, but in case you want more detail of the battle( full Hd graphics) you just zoom in in that battle or fight and with the pressing of a key full graphics are turned on and you can have what you want.

So this is what i think Zero-k future can be: A Galaxy space game where you move units from planets with transport ships, colonize planets, have space battles, planetary battles all of those on huge scale.

I think we should consider the future of zero k as a turn based postal game.

I've always liked the timetravel concept of Achron and the physics of ZK. Fusing these together simply by adding time travel to ZK would make a perfect game. This could be combined with Forever's concept of space battles and colonization for some incredible scifi opera.

So the question is, what are you waiting for, devs?!

This is why i wont implicate myself in the development of the game. Some admins and dev here dont have a positive idea about whats going on. They really think that each player here if they mean something they have to joke about it. Remember that there is a big chance that you can miss lots of opportunities because of this "joke here and joke that "behavior.

But its your call, keep doing what you think its best. Also i was not asking you guys to implement what i said, i was just suggesting things in case you will get help for the game. But since you guys dont care from what i saw in a recent post above its clear that i need to stop caring about silly things.

ROrankForever: Your problem is that you are looking at a car, then at CERN, and then going "we should power all our vehicles with antimatter IT WILL BE TOTALLY AWESOME."

(hint: even someone with no formal experience in programming should know better than to randomly propose stitching two completely different engines together on the basis of "it will be kewl")

I don't know what do you mean in terms of 'future graphics'.
There are a lot of graphical elements in the game:
1. unit models
2. auxilary effects (explosions, projectiles, jet propulsions)
3. map textures

The thing is that 1. and 2. are not realy being worked on too much because there are no dedicated modellers in ZK. There are some mappers however that do good job providing high quality maps for Zero-K.
Besides you should also not consider texturing a 'programing thing'. It is like saying that painting is the same as writing.

for me, the "graphical" future is the following:

-dont make graphics better in terms of getting better "entertainment". if it improves strategic depth, it is a plus. if i want entertainment, i stop playing and watch the spectacle.

-improve graphics in terms of performance. same image, but faster.

@KingRaptor, i never and i repeat i NEVER asked to implement what i said OMG. I was just talking about something in case we have the opportunity to improve this game. The initial negative thinking makes us lose so many things from the start. So many games from what i saw are supported with founds or with development power and why can;t we have such a thing ? What makes you think we wont get the same ?

Maybe what i wrote here was a test of optimism but with all apologies many of you lack this for some reason.

As for graphics, if someone would texture them I could do models. I'm not Muffe, but I could at least improve on the OTA models.

There's no need to wait for a special occasion to do models.

Also now that we're in the future, there's much less hassle getting assimp models running.

(and by running i mean both imported and animated)

I think ROrankForever wants to talk about what would be the most awesome game resembling zero-k. This is not a thread about what is realistically happening to zero-k in the future. It is about the future as in "when "everything" is possible".
So pls don't judge the ideas as if they were meant for implementing in the coming weeks.

Making that less ambiguous would have helped though!

However there are a lot of lines that make this hypothesis somewhat unlikely.
