When I start a regular mission for testing, the game starts normally, but then after selecting a commander it spawns in the top right corner; but nobody actually spawns. Help anyone??

Mission editor does not spawn commanders, you must insert units manually into the game. Unfortunately this means no custom commanders, but then custom commanders would probably break the balance of most missions that use restricted or set numbers of units (running start, Pass, etc).
If you want to get rid of the startup panel, add 'init_startup_info_selector' to 'disabled widgets' under 'settings'. (This should probably be disabled by default).

Yes, I do understand that commanders are not used unless manually placed into the game. But even the units I manually put down in the editor don't spawn, and it shows there is nothing on the field...

I have found that when not using Chickens as an enemy AI, the problem persists. But when I set Chickens as an enemy AI (On any difficulty) everything works perfectly. Even with CAI it will not spawn anything. Is it mandatory to use Chickens in the mission editor? Or is this a bug specific to my computer?

Soo... Is there a reason why I can't create a mission that includes CAI as an AI for the opponent, or is t just supposed to be like that?

It shouldn't be like that, maybe you can edit the script that mission editor produces.

Lol, I don't know the first thing about scripting; I'd probably end up messing the whole thing. :P
*I't only happens for me on Zero-K. Other games, like BA, work fine with other AI*

CAI is a luaAI whereas others are external so require the user to have an extra file as well. Apparently mission editor doesn't detect luaAI.
As a fix add a NullAI instead and then edit whatever it outputs replacing instances of NullAI with CAI. Remember if you mess the whole thing up nothing bad happens.

Sorry for posting in an old thread. I have a problem with CAI. I can select it just fine, but when the game starts nothing gets placed, there is nothing on the map when it starts while CAI is selected.

And as Collserra said, it works just fine with chicken AI.

I don't think CAI creates the commander whereas chicken creates all the units it uses.
