3. 2. 1. 0. And we have a takeoff! The end of May closes by, which can only mean we are going to have a go at yet another 1v1 tournament. It will be starting on 30th of May, as always at 10 AM UTC. Registration will close on 29th of May, at 23.59 UTC. However due to unavailability of EErankAdminAnarchid the tourney will be hosted by PLrankOrfelius.

Tournament format & rules:
- Double elimination
- Random seeding
- First map of each round is predetermined. After the first game, the losing player will suggest two different maps, from which the winner will choose the map for the next game. Maps must originate from 1v1 map pool.
- All winners bracket games will be best of 3 (including finals). All losers bracket games will be best of 1 with the exception of the losers finals (bo3).
- It is possible to substitute for players who don't show up. If you have signed up, make sure to show up on time. Those who fail to show up will likely be subbed out by 10:30 UTC.
- The players coming first, second and third will receive special unique collectible awards to their player profile, and receive tournament points which will at the year's end determine the year's altogether best tournament player.

First maps for each round are as follows:

Round 1
Cooper_Hill_TNM02-V1

Round 2 and losers round 1
Quicksilver

Round 3 and losers round 2
Trojan_Hills_v02

Losers round 3
Hide_and_Seek_v03

Semifinals
wanderlust_V01

Finals
Forgotten_Crossing_v1

Current bracket can be seen here.

Sign up in the comments and good luck to all of the participants!

Forgotten_Crossing_v1 is not featured. So the finals will be played on an unfeatured map. Just saying. Have fun!

This is definitely worth highlighting.

I realise that Forgotten_Crossing_v1 is not featured Skasi. Albait it is not broken, used to be featured and played on in the tourneys as well. I see no reason to not include it in the tourney.

it was unfeatured because it was ugly as shit, why not pick something that looks nice?

I'm more intrested on that picture.

You are incorrect GBrank[Fx]Drone. The map was unfeatured due to accusations of light vehicles, particularly schorchers blending in with the texture of the map. Not because of its aesthetic value but that argument also adds up into the discussion.

I'm actually quite concerned about the blending issue. I'll test when I get home (currently about to take off from O'Hare in Chicago), but hopefully it's not too bad, and Outline should help, at least for casting.

Also, I will be streaming at the usual Twitch and Hitbox channels.

Not sure about AUrankAdminSaktoth, NLrank[XIV]Floris, or USrankkaen for co-commentary.

I'm not in, but i have a question/idea regarding matches.
What about seeding that keeps the first round of player matches arranged such that it is the earliest time possible per player?

i.e. players in one time zone experience the tourney to start at 2am, players in another time zone experience the tourney to start at 8pm, so the players with the later time zone get to play their matches first for every rung of the ladder, and vice versa.

Und dann: the 8 PM guy has to wait 4 additional hours if they both meet in the next bracket.

Bonus points if he wins again and has to wait another 4 hours due to another timezone mismatch.

And hooray for the host and caster(s) who have to sit through the whole thing.

On that note, Shadowfury might as well just skip the first round and get more sleep to be fully awake for the finals (unless the first round already contains top ten players fighting each other). Iirc finals happen when all participants are already at least a bit tired. This could be prevented at least for the caster.
