My friends said, that this game will run even on the calculator.
But in massive battles on minimal settings i have 4 fps on my laptop. What is the problem?

My hardware

AMD A8-6410 APU with AMD Radeon R5 Graphics (4 CPUs), ~2.0GHz
6 GB RAM

Your friends lied. You should unfriend them and report them to the police .

I can be your new friend. :3

Chances are there were a lot of units that required pathfinding calculations, line of sight shading had to be done, grids had to be drawn and interface elements were displayed. There are many different things that eat FPS like puppies eat wrecks. To more precisely answer your question more information is required.

More information? I just set the minimal setting in launcher.

Here's my dxdiag, if you need it

I guess "moar information" is replay link and infolog.txt (->pastebin.com) from low-fps battle, also timings when it happens, etc.

to see which part of the game takes more time, you can type /debug into the console, print screen and upload it somewhere.

Oh, suddenly I'll be offline this weekend. I will try to deal with this issue in the next week.

A big impact on your FPS might have been all the shields that had to be drawn north. Pathing probably wasn't too bad, but there were 50+ units constantly patrolling through 100 other units. "More info" would include things like "were F4/LoS view enabled all game? what widgets do you use?" etc. The infolog posted was not from the game in question, but still contains some info:

[f=0000000] Loaded widget: CameraShake <camera_shake.lua>

Does your camera shake on explosions? I disable this all the time for its super-annoyingness so I don't know for sure, but maybe it eats FPS too?

Does pressing F5 improve your FPS? If yes then GUI has a big impact. If no then it's probably mostly the simulation. After pressing F5, does zooming in on an empty corner improve FPS noticably? If yes then units, weapon effects and similar might have a huge impact. Note that F5 hides FPS display, so you have to either guess (which I only recommend if there is a huge noticeable impact) or find some way to log or still display FPS.

Any feasible implementation I can think of simply manipulates the camera matrix once per frame. ~20 float multiplications and additions won't cause your fps to drop measurably.

Disabling the grid outside of the map should be a noticeable improvement. There should be an option somewhere in the settings.
