Linux textures problem

Hi guys,

Haven't been around for a while, but wanted to get back into it. I have migrated to Linux so am trying to get it going with the instructions around. After manually installing libsdl it works. Fixed the sound by setting the right device in the settings. Now I can technically play the game, but the current visuals make it quite challenging. It looks as if the textures aren't displaying correctly. See below screenshot. Any suggestions where to start to fix this? Thanks!

Hey,
I have installed Zero-K on Kubuntu before and last time on openSUSE (with only minor problems).
If I remeber correctly installing Mono, 7zip, Wget, and Xprintidle (or what their corresponding names were) got everything up and running.
If that wasn't enough I might have added similar available packages or the ones mentioned here (even though I did not compile it myself): http://zero-k.info/Wiki/DownloadLinux

Which distro are you using?

Good luck.

Haha, indeed this one adds some challenges in identifying who is who. Anyway, I'm on a light version of Ubuntu (Lubuntu). It didn't work at all until I installed libsdl. I followed the instructions for the other packages as well, so it's probably not a missing package. Unless it's the c++ one of says in the bottom. Will try that later. Nobody has seen such a thing before? Would be helpful if I knew where to look, lol..

looks bit similiar to https://springrts.com/wiki/FAQ:trouble#I_use_Linux_with_Open-Source_Gfx_drivers.2C_and_the_map_is_all_white.21
Or with luck maybe try these spring settings:
AdvMapShading=0
AdvUnitShading=0
But the minimap is messed up too, so maybe driver related..

this is not a texture problem... this is zerok interacts with the seasons.

Reinstalling the video driver seems to have helped a lot. Initially it crashed my whole x, but somehow I managed to get it going again. Wouldn't want to do that again.. It looks a lot better now, see screenshot below. Only the 'oily' sheen at the edge of the fog of war remains. It's been a while, so I forgot, is that normal? Anything I can do to make it just fade to dark or something like that?

Thanks for the pointers guys! Especially the hints by knorke helped a lot! :)

Ah, it seems that is actually the radar edge rather than fog of war. I don't care for it much. Gonna check the settings if there's something to change it.

Protip: Pressing L will solve half of your lag, and remove radar edge.

(Also, maybe the problem with the earlier screen-shot was that it had Firepluk in it, lulz)

Regarding things that can improve how you play, keep line of sight on.

I also play with metal view (F4) on.
