Do any one know of more games like Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weird_Worlds:_Return_to_Infinite_Space ) and Flotilla ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flotilla_(video_game) ) where you find random Strange things in Space like pirate chickens (literally)?

EDIT: Small list of ones that i did like:
Prospector:
http://code.google.com/p/rlprospector/

Ur-Quan Masters/Star Control 2:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/sc2/

Transcendence:

Maybe Space Pirates and Zombies? I've got it, its a pretty good value for its relatively low price. Gets a little repetitive, but overall pretty fun.

Yours sounds and looks a bit like Armada Online(free) Antelope. Or maybe M.A.R.S.(foss). Also reminds me of Battleships Forever(free)!

fortaleza's sounds more like Space Rangers(err, you know where to get it..)

Or do you mean MORE exploraion and MORE crazy thing? There's quite some games.. but I don't remember names. (hah, that rhymes!) There's also much other space stuff.. so much. Dang there's too many games out there. Nubs should concentrate on making one big ass winner instead of a billion losers.

I remember playing Battleships Forever, very nice game with ships that get destroyed parts by parts, if you like thing like that try Captain Torever ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_Forever and www.captainforever.com ).

But that is not what i am looking for now, this time i do not care about the battle system or even if it have one or not. What i want is this:

"you mean MORE exploraion and MORE crazy thing"
And if there a little of comedy in it better. Could be a hard sci-fi too, but aliens need to be aliens, not all humanoids, etc. Not sure about the gameplay style, the two i said above are casual games (do not even have save games), but i could take a more serious one too.

Looking at Space Pirates and Zombies now; from youtube trailer M.A.R.S.(foss) is not for me (seems 100% battle and no history/exploration and cray things); will look a Armada Online and Space Rangers later. Skasi try to remenber the names plz :)
and thx everyone for all sugestions, if you have more say it.

The legendary Ur-Quan Masters/Star Control 2. Probably everyone has played through this already, but maybe there is someone who yet hasn't. http://sc2.sourceforge.net/

Ah yes, one of them was what Antero posted, fort. Never played it myself tho'.

If you want pure exploration I'd suggest Knytt or Knytt Stories(both free), but those are not space games. If you want aliens and humor I'd suggest Startopia(commercial), but that's not an exploration game.

There's naev(foss), its your "usual" space ship game. Last time I checked, combat was pretty important. I didn't play it much since then, so I can't tell how funny it is or whether combat is important. It's open source and under constant development, so maybe things changed.

I've found some space exploration roguelikes a few days ago, but can't remember the names or where I found them. I think I've been browsing through some of your links in the DF thread, not sure though. Hehe. :P

"'ve found some space exploration roguelikes a few days ago, but can't remember the names or where I found them. I think I've been browsing through some of your links in the DF thread, not sure though. Hehe. :P"

You probaly was loking at Projects using libtcod (a roguelike engine):
http://doryen.eptalys.net/libtcod/projects-2/
There even a X-Com roguelike there and a raytraced roguelikes "wolfenstein-like" game too (Tombs of the Aztecs).

For ANY roguelike search look at RogueBasin, (i think the follow ever roguelike ever released):

http://roguebasin.roguelikedevelopment.org/index.php/Main_Page

But i am looking at some something with a litte graphics (and is rare roguelike with it) too.

"Ur-Quan Masters/Star Control 2"
From Screenshots it looks really like what i was looking for, downloading it now. Thx.

"Startopia"
Did already play it, but it was not very good. Thx for the suggestions any way.

You could try Transcendence. It's a space rogue-like, although it's been a long time since I played it. http://neurohack.com/transcendence/index.html

Hmm, you prolly already know Ascii Sector. As far as I can remember the vanilla thing is not too much about exploration, but there are extra things to download, these could be.

Ooh, I know dat one, TheDarkStar! :D

Still playing "Ur-Quan Masters/Star Control 2" exactly what I wanted, and really a good game. Can not belive i missed this FOSS game.
Them are even making a Mod sequel to Star Control II: The Ur-Quan Masters:
http://code.google.com/p/project6014/

Transcendence:
Did play it a long time ago, but battle sistem was to much for me (in Ur-Quan Masters i could even auto the battle), so i could not really explore too much freely, and as not so good for me. After finishing Ur-Quan Masters can give it another chance.

And thx again for the another tips, Ascii Sector, etc, later i will check it.

Star Control 2 is one of the definitive kings of the genre.

There's a lesser-known game called Lightspeed from around the same time that's very similar in tone, but it's a 3D first-person starship game so it dates itself far worse than the timeless 2D sprites of Star Control. OMG huge flat untextured polygons.

You mean Elite ( Oolite wwww.oolite.org ; ) ?

Edit: Oh, i see now that you mean this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightspeed_%28video_game%29

No, lightspeed. Sadly, no remake of it like Starcon2 and Elite

FTL: Faster Than Light:

Looks like this will be a good one too (maybe even the battles will be fun for me).

This one too (aliens looks humanoids to fit X-Com gameplay i think):

Star Command:

It's a bit very grindy and fails to support my monitor's resolution, but yup, still there.

HyperRogue III sounds a bit like it might be something for you, fortaleza.

quote:
You are a lone outsider in a strange, non-Euclidean world. (...) As a Rogue, your goal is to collect as many treasures as possible. However, collecting treasures attracts dangerous monsters (on the other hand, killing the monsters allows more treasures to be generated).

Did like the world, but the game still need a LOT more, the treasures are nothing (just points), not sure if i can even change equipment, there any history for the game, how the char is there, etc... ?

Speaking of non-Euclidean geometry, we need a turn-based strategy that is structured by connectivity maps (or repeating patterns) and not even mathematical axes.

Imagine something like Battle for Wesnoth with non-euclidean maps. Hyperbolic maps, non-simply-connected maps, non-orientable space.

*mind shattered*

Hmm it seems you missed what this game is all about, fort. It's exploration and tactics, not equipment poo yuckies. Anyway, jseah is right. Spring needs to support that!!
