In 3 days, CZrankAdminLicho and ITrankAdmin[LCC]quantum[0K] are going to GDS indie dev conference in Prague.

We will have our booth and will present Zero-K to people over two days.
Also there will be a short (5 min) on-stage presentation of Zero-K and we will enter indie game competition.

I would like to ask for some help getting this:

  • awesome ultra-quality screenshots of the game ... whatever you think is cool/impressive
  • interesting replays or commented videos ( CArankAdminShadowfury333 ) or other cool videos (can also be staged like our features trailer)
  • online assistance for the presentation (we might let people play online so we would need online mentoring/moderation standing by)
  • write why do you think ZK is great (we could use it as a quote for presentation)

Please post what you create or find here into this forum thread.

Thank you!

Well tooting my own horn here but flyer text and why zk is great is compiled in this thread,

http://zero-k.info/Forum/Thread/21063?page=2&Search=&User=&grorder=&grdesc=False&grpage=1

I'll upload the flyer design if needed though they are not that good.

incidentally shouldn't we make a marketing package out of this or something?

Also do we have the time in utc ?

Good thing we did server testing, new players incoming.

Also, press kit is probably a good thing to have. But with this being announced so late, I don't think we can do that much...

Here are the action shots I use for my stream intermissions: Link from Google Drive.

From what I've shown people of the game, the things that draw attention tend to be:
- that there aren't artificial APM sinks. When I show people how a "marine split" works in ZK people get excited. Like they've never thought about it being something that should be easy.
- when I show them just how big a clusterfuck can be
- when I show them that there is no tech tree (tends to be a curiosity response)
- functional terraform
- game starts immediately, can be fighting within 30 secs on most maps
- the sheer potential for flashy creative plays

Things that tend to slow down the listener if not well explained:
- commanders being present but not being strider class
- retreat micro and bullet physics (I personally like how it works, but it's not exciting sounding)
- graphics
- modular design of composition

I think the main draw is the flashy plays though. If you could adequately communicate that during a tournament final a player impulsively gravity gunned a crawling bomb, then delivered it straight back to the center of the opponents army (which has the advantage of avoiding targeting), I think you'll have them frothing from every orifice.

Ok thanks, we have stuff mostly sorted for the 5 min presentation.

What are some of the best replays? Do you have some favorites?

Multiplayer B418045 2 on Iced Coffee v4.3 is one of the more interesting games I remember playing recently but I am not sure what the criteria are.

[Spoiler]

Problems:
I have no idea if it would interest somebody if they just glanced at it (there was action going on somewhere for almost all of the game, but it's not huge shiny battles, just a bloodbath)
It was nearly half an hour long which might be too much.
It was a game on 100.0 so it can't be replayed with current Chobby.
It hasn't been commentated (unfortunately all of the interesting games in that tourney which I played in weren't).

In other words, if somebody asked me "sell me ZK by showing me a single game, which I'm gonna sit down and watch and really understand everything that happened" that battle would be high on my list. For "grab my interest in a few seconds" I'm not so sure... but I'm not sure what ZK game I would choose for that task.

I've said this before but the third game of this clan war is one I would link to friends if I want tell them what ZK is about (skip to minute 24). I think it shows the best of ZK with juicy teamwork tactics and unit synergy. It's also short and nobody has patience for watching team game eco nonsense.

I suppose you probably would want a big grandiose teamgame or FFA and fastforward the boring parts if you wanted to show ZK in all its glory though, sommeone else will have to find that.

Surely between the two of you you could have come up with a single replay where I'm not getting crapped on by Aquanim :P

I think 2016/09/06 Rafalpluk(Sp) vs DeinFreund(Am) vs Jasper(Am) FFA is very entertaining to watch, but it is also a really long game.

FWIW the series in this video, especially game 3 Multiplayer B262232 2 on Vittra_v1, was what initially induced me to download ZK as I recall. (I remember thinking "wtf is a puppy?")

(This is me speaking as a 1v1 player though, the team and FFA games above might be more appealing in general. The clanwars game which Drone linked probably maximises interesting stuff happening in the shortest timespan.)
