video sharing and trailer competition!?

i have a suggestion. i really like the idea of video editing a trailer for zk. some people have done it before, some are trying. video material is, what does get us good publicity. so here it is:

let share the raw video files via one big torrent or even better via syncthing (similar to btsync/resilio but not proprietary protocol).

resaon:
i really have difficulties to record proper quality on linux because the windows engine video recorder (which slows down to not frame-drop) is not available.

the outcoming video would have "open source" character, as many have contributed by video files, but have a personal touch by selection of scenes, composition and choice of music.

in the end, there could be a competition with a winner, similar to a tournament (maybe with awards/kudos etc?).

the project would gain some cool trailers and therefore more publicity.

steps to success:
1)announce idea - DONE
2)gain people for the idea - IN PROGRESS
3)setup sharing infrastructure - DONE => i use mega.nz (50GB free share)
4)produce/gather video clip and share them - IN PROGRESS
5)everyone starts to video - IN PROGRESS
6)compare and vote for the best clip - TODO
7)hand out awards - TODO
8)profit. - AUTO

so i need your help if you are interested. or else this project will go full train factory.

Otherwise really cool idea. Who would be the jury to decide which clip is the best?

I can hear the train rumbling in the distance..
Who would want to make a video that may never be used, while he could both be paid and reach a larger audience working commercially /knorke

Anyway, sharing the unedited files would be nice, because currently you always have to start from zero.

Behold the product of the product of more than half a day of work that should've been spent on homework

What is this you ask?
I've started working on a video maker widget, at the moment it's barely functional, you can set keyframes, play the linear interpolation between them and record the results into a series of .pngs (so you can put your settings to the max).
This requires engine version >= 103.0.1-295-ge32391f
Code is here: https://github.com/ashdnazg/VideoMakerWidget
The interface looks like this: [Spoiler]

This is unfinished and not useful at the moment so no support will be provided and no feature requests please.
Planned stuff:
1) Smooth interpolation between more than 2 keyFrames
2) Save/Load shot support
3) Replay support (the plan is to set the shots, reload and then render on the 2nd pass)
4) Focusing on a unit (HQ skuttlevids)

stones in the way:
-chobby reserves the F11 key! who does such a thing! widget list is on ALT-F11 but does not work/show list on ubuntu
-the following part is strange. local widgets didnt show the wupget. might be because the folder name or the filename had "-" and "_" in it. copied the lua file directly under Widgets.yes i know about /luaui reload. i would not rule out my incompetence though ;)
-as recomended, a feature request: img width not divisible by 2 (windowed random width) => required by ffmpeg conversion. would be nice to autocrop so width is divisible by 2. had to batch convert using gimp

note: i have no idea how to operate the UI or what i have done using it...there is room for improvement.

For recording with decent performance on ubuntu i used..oh. This is not the question. This is about setting up a video-sharing infrastructure and competion with judges. ok.

github is terrible for sharing large binary files. (such as video)
Raw video files are easily dozens to hundreds GB. If peoplers have slow internet (as peoplers always have or we would not need to wait years for peoplers to dl maps) then no online way exists to share such amount of gigabytes.
Snail-mail-shipping could work. DVDs only hold 4,7 GB, HDDs are too expensive and large for shipping. I think USB-sticks or SD cards could be good, fits in mail envelope.

Quotefake detected. I never said anything about money.
My point is that develobsters always want more more players and want to archive that goal through "promotion." But promotion is not the problem. There was already enought promotion to get enought votes to greenlight the game for steam, how much more promotion do you need?

On Ubuntu, F11 is the default binding for toggle fullscreen (by the way Firefox uses the same). You can change it in the keyboard shortcuts settings. I have also changed the move window modifier from alt to windows button, to reduce conflicts with games etc.
