Some Audio Is Really Jarring And Could Use Some Adjustment

I think it's the artillery crackling sound after it hits the ground that sounds out of place, like the sound file is too high a pitch or something. Like when you get distortion in audio. Not sure if others noticed this too but it's really jarring and distracting. I think it just needs a little adjustment. Maybe it's the way the sound effect is mixed with other artillery sound effects. There were many times already when it happened it really wrecked the mood and flow of the game. Also sometimes it seems to be much louder then the rest of the game audio.

It might be the cerberus. I know it's sound is kind of annoying with the crackling when it lands. Might be all artilley, might be random in how it's mixed. Artillery crackling in general is high pitched in my opinion, it all sounds like it's distorted.

Reading through this thread makes my mind create annoying low quality artillery shooting/flying/explosion sounds. Help, make it go away!

I agree that sound was often a bit wonky in Spring/ZK. Sometimes many sound playbacks pile up and are played simultaneously, creating a very loud and annoying sound (very common with chat/mapmarker sounds when lagging).

I also remember the occasional louder weapon sound, which I always randomly assumed to be a sound playback not being properly volume-adjusted for distance or something. Super random far fetched idea: Could it be that sound pitches and/or volume are all randomized a tiny little bit for every shot, but every now and then Math.random returns 0 or 1 and that breaks something, which then falls back to a default sound that is not adjusted for distance, etc.? Just a thought.

I'm thinking the same sort of thing, but also the artillery crackling sound, just sounds annoying to me in general. I can tolerate it normally but I think the crackling really doesn't sound good. This combined with when the sounds go louder for no apparent reason (I have experienced this quite frequently and remember a particular instance during the campaign in the snow level where you have to rush build the Krow and you start on the right). I think it's a combination of sounds mixing weirdly, going louder, but also the base sound effect for the artillery crackling needs a bit of work. I think just adjusting that sound file as a start would go a long way to improving this situation. Of course when sounds get loud for no reason also needs to be fixed.

Does this also happen when you replace your openal32.dll in the last modified engine directory with the one from openalsoft 1.15.1 package?

They said 'Cerberus' so I know what they are talking about and the ticket makes sense.
