I downloaded the smoothscroll widget months ago and it's just now starting to error my game out. I have no clue where I installed it to! So please, if any of you know where widgets are installed to, tell me so I can play normally again.

In Windows, look in:

C:\Users\[username]\Documents\My Games\Spring\LuaUI\widgets

For Linux, it's probably somewhere under ~/.spring although I don't know where exactly. Try 'find ~/.spring -name \*.lua' to find it.

Thanks for the reply. I just checked under LuaUI and I appear to not have a widgets folder. I did a fresh install of spring this morning and the error has continued!

If you can get Spring to run at all, you can hit F11 to pull up the widgets list. Then from there you can disable the one(s) giving you trouble.

Which lobby are you using? When you did your fresh install of spring, which installer did you use and where did it come from?

I got it to work after another fresh install and by doing the F11 trick you mentioned. Thank you! It appears after every game I have to deactivate the widget again, however this isn't really a problem since each game is so long. So I wont complain. :)

Why does it turn itself back on each game?

This sounds like that Linux thing where people don't set their folder permissions to allow the widget config file to be written.

mojjj: The Chili Docking widget is only needed for saving window sizes and positions. Things like which widgets are enabled/disabled should be saved no matter what, although I'm not sure where they get saved to.

Like KR says, it could be a permissions issue, or maybe the save location has been accidentally set to someplace that can't be written to (like a CD drive or something).

Or maybe Arekow is pressing one of the "settings" buttons in the Lobby? They're labeled "Game details" and mostly deal with graphics settings, but they also reset some widgets (but not all of them).
