dark_gf did this and some other instances of misuse of the chat privilege within a few hours of his 24h mute having expired - one which he was given for exactly this kind of behavior.

dark_gf can take a week off.

Most games last at least 20 minutes so a mex will give you allot of metal.. most likely each mex will end up being roughly equivalent of killing a grizzly after around 40 minutes and that's worth the minimal micro of sending a con. But missing things is human and even the best players will miss things

You would be right if this was an isolated incident. However, look at this chain of events with some backlog:

- On Saturday morning, i was speccing the teams room and noticed a few people being rather not nice, dark_gf included. I proceeded to kindly ask everyone to be nice, and also gave dark_gf a few tips on how to express his frustrations without being overtly toxic.

- Later on Saturday, dark_gf got a report for verbal abuse. So, asking kindly didn't work! Since the transgression was fairly minor, a rather meek punishment of a 24 hour mute was applied: dark_gf could still play the game, but with his ability to insult others taken away.

- Within 2 hours of his mute running out on Sunday, this thread emerged (including some unreported instances of verbal abuse, e.g. calling people idiots).

Clearly, that didnt' work either - the week ban is merely the next step.

I think being admin is like being a king. It's hard to make choices on who gets beheded. But without a clear leadership a dark age of bandits and horrors would roam the lands. Making an example of a player may prevent dark_googlefrog for a while, but when he Resurrects he will seek once again to cover the realm in shadow. Only if we can heal his icy 💓 can we finally defeat his Dynamic IP VPN smurf accounts forever and bring zk back into balance. You are a worrier of the light anarchid I will trust your leadership. But know this.. it is foretold that one day a dark googlefrog would reclaim the throne. The same 🔨 you once used for justice can also be used for evil.

I think maybe the right thing was done. Sorry I guess I am bored because I can't play for 2 weeks. Not being able to play has given me some empathy for the guy. But I'm glad something was done to show people bullies are taken seriously. I just watch too many fantasy movies and had some fun with his name being dark_googlefrog.. like the evil version of googlefrog. I better let the admins safeguard the kingdom from katastrophy before there forced to slay the SmokeDragon

The mods have to be strict I think or people will keep pushing boundaries. Mute does prevent players being abusive to eachother but I don't know if it prevents them starting kick votes too.

Not really. At best a mute prevents somebody from working with their team which potentially makes everybody's experience worse. At worst they start griefing to vent their frusturation instead. The admins are if anything moving away from mutes for more than a day or two and issuing bans instead (typically of shorter duration than the mute would have been).

The attitude of dark_gf is almost invariably hostile and toxic, especially towards new players, and he should consider himself fortunate to be tolerated and allowed to participate in the community at all. It is a privilege that may not be granted forever should he continue to behave in this way.
