I was thinking this exact thing - a missile that deloys an Corona (the stationary one). Would have the intended effect, and lasting consequences for future assaults.

I think cloaking isnt quite the same thing as a smoke screen. A smoke cover is a far more positional thing and should behave more like an invisible wall blocking line of sight for things behind it.

Ye its not the same thing, my point is that Zero-K doesn't need more "hiding stuff" mechanics. Cloaking is both sufficient and ubiquitous enough. It doesn't have an easy counter, you have to constantly scout or saturate the area. Adding smoke bombs on top of that feels excessive.

This idea rooted when I want a way to counter the midfield play, build up strong porc in the middle of a map so units can marching in to any directions.

It is too important to take the middle of the map now.

I would like smoke who would make long range porc only short range. So assaults could get closer with smaller looses. Also it could work vs mass artillery units in same manner.
Cloaking is different because it doesn't limit both forces. Smoke could be with two edges because limits vision of all units and porc in it.
Smoke could be used to 'blurr' radar vision end erase scouted buildings on map. It could give some protection vs super weapons maybe.

If cloaking fields were actually smoke generators it would make cloak interactions more two sided and set apart inherently cloaking units.

Corona is a much better name for Cornea.

It also readily provides a better sounding alternative to "cloak cancer".

Smoker-cloaker though is not something that could work, like, at all: all this smoke does is basically say "enemy cloaked army is HERE".

Not without engine modifications. You'd need something that causes LoS to be computed from a different heightmap than what everything else uses.

The smoke covers a large area, so you don't know where to shoot. It lets melee units do melee, since you have to send your units in close to uncover what's there. I've been thinking of Smoke grenades in XCOM.

There are only two melee units in the game, Scythes are already innately cloaked while jacks are good enough as is.

I think it is technically possible, but with all the other mechanics in the game vying for attention I don't think I'll implement it.
