Unit Shadow missing

Win10 1909, AMD RX470 with Adrenalin drivers 20.2.1

Graphic settings in the game at Ultra.

Although i have Units + Terrain to cast shadows, only terrain casts shadows. The strange thing is that while i built a structure it's shadow displays correctly. As soon as the structure is complete it's shadow disappears.

Same with units.

Am i missing a setting somewhere or is it a problem with AMD drivers? (I have Compatibility for ATI set to OFF else water doesn't render correctly, but even if i turn it to ON i am still missing Unit shadows...)

Disableng Shiny Units brings shadows back! Is there a way to permanent disable Shiny Units?

Once a setting is unchecked, it usually stays that way when settings are saved. Does it return to being enabled for you?

This sounds like a problem with AMD drivers.

Yes the option is enabled again when i quit and restart Zero-K!

Although ["epic_Settings/Graphics/Unit_Visibility_Shiny_Units"] = false in ZK_data.lua

Can you revert back your settings and share infolog please. Maybe there is something there I can fix.

Infolog here:

Were these logs captured while you had no shadows from the complete units?

Yes. It is not a big deal. I use a shortcut (ALT+numpad0) to enable/disable the Shiny Units checkbox so i can get shadows back with just a keystroke.

Can you type something recognizable in the chat before toggling shiny units on/off and collect the infolog once again?

In any case you don't need to turn shiny units off, there is a setting that disables custom shadow shader, although afaik it is not exposed to the menu. To enable the workaround you need to put "bug3734wa=1" into your springsettings.cfg, but please do that only after you have collected the infolog as per above.

Sure! Opened Chat, typed HELLO WORLD, started a new Skirmish, turned Shiny Units off and here's the log:

LOG

Tried bug3734wa=1 and it solves the shadow issue without disabling Shiny Units.

One question: every time the game starts it downloads an Interface Tutorial but when i go to Help -> Tutorials i see the message "Error loading missions check that your install dir is writable"

The game is installed in G: and i checked the permissions. I even run the game As Admin... still the same message.

Your infolog doesn't have "HELLO WORLD" in it.
It's actually a very strange one, it doesn't load the gadgets it's supposed to load in order to break/restore shadows. Something is wrong here.
