is it possible to run zero k as a portable app? I often introduce friends to the game and it would be nice to be able to simply copy over a directory with maps and everything so they can run it from there. For windows and linux if possible.

For windows copy My Documents\My Games\Spring + folder with zero-k lobby itself. You can get it from zip too.

You mean the zip file you download? When I run it from there it will download everything to the folder I unpack it to? Thanks.

yeah the zip with lobby will download everything necessary. By default to my documents\my games

So if you already have stuff downloaded and want to share config etc, just grab my documents\my games\spring too

I think there should be some kind of "full" installer(or just zip) of maps(of pw?) + game with minimal no-hassle, so we could upload game to torrents, of course it is needed some cool, screenhts, videos, to past in description(in my country there is "national tracker" and other countrys have such things too and if screenshots/videos would look cool also it would weight like 1GB then ppl would at least look at it or try it. And maybe wait till planetwars gets out of beta(but will it ever get out :) ) So there is needed some discussion.

The problem with this game is that setup.exe weights ~0.5mb nobody will look at this game serious now.

Hm that is an area I might put some effort, since I need it for my friends anyways. It really would be nice to have the game plus are few popular maps in a totally portable form. Is there a way to set the downloader so it downloads updates to the directory where the game is instead of to My Documents/My Games so that it remains portable after copying it over?

Yes if you change springdata entry in engine config. It should be available from settings.

Many setups are very small and use a similar download system. Look at League or Legends or the entire Steam system.
