Llts not firing beyond factory

I just lost a 1v1 due to (sucking and Hop being far better than me) and losing my factory to a single pyro. No problems there, however, I did have a llt guarding it, which just sat there as it wasn't able to fire due to the angles (essentially, the factory blocking the line of sight to the pyro).

I've noticed this a few times with commanders not being able to shoot around factories and units just hiding behind the factory (sometimes circling to the opposite side to stop the com shooting) - each time it's felt kind of cheap.

You could consider it a feature, but I'm wondering whether this is a desired effect, or more an implication of the factory shapes.

Basically, is this kind of thing something you want in the game?

This is a fully intentional result of projectiles not passing through allied units. I like how placing turrets is more complex than just putting down simple circles of coverage, and a smart attacker can often find an approach that reduces the damage they take. The slight lines create a nice asynchronous puzzle between the attacker and defender. Always having turrets cover a circle around them would remove a lot of the nuance.

Maybe there should be an option for this

Yeah okay, it's intentional then, I'll just have to learn it I guess...

Do you take submissions for loading screens? ;)

I've seen some players put there first Lotus next to factory on a small terraformed hill to improve the lotus' ability to shoot over nearby buildings, at a small price.

doing what randy says has been my default for quite some time. It's this kind of thing that has made recon com the favorite choice for so long

Keeps the lotus out of scythe reach, too.

For me, the weapon occlusion mechanic makes the game's physics more believable, and, for me, that's somewhat important.

Raising a lotus near my factory is something I've been thinking about doing for a while, one thing stopping me from doing so is proximity. I'd rather have it closer to the factory, but the hill needs some space around the sides.

Wouldn't you have to raise it pretty high to avoid Scythes?

would help alot, if the weapon range circle would display this.

Unfortunately not all units share the same y height for their midpoints.

Are all shots fired at midpoints? Ie., they don't default to something that can be seen?

Agree with Mojjj - even if it is direct los to the ground from the weapon. Might give some idea.

Showing ground shadows while placing a turret seems like a good tradeoff. It wouldn't clutter the UI that much, and should get the idea across. I think BAR may have a widget for this.
