This shouldn't happen

My detri was picked up by a hercules in an FFA game even though it was moving. Why should hercules be able to pick up a detri anyway? This mechanic is dumb.

seems like somebody didnt provide his detri with adequate escorts and now hes getting mad about it

Like in IRL, slower things are easier to pick up :)

Hercules are VERY vulnerable to anti-air. While charons are made of glass, hercules are big chunks of glass. As soon as they engage into any warzone, they crumble. I usually escort a hercules with a cloakbot, or I drop units with a hercules beneath a shield, to ensure it lands safely.

Using the same logic, if an enemy uses a hercules to pick up ENEMY units instead, use hacksaws or raiders or any decent anti-air. It's... just one thing you have to watch out for. I think that hercules kidnaps are funny, and they don't seem too hard to deal with.

Good luck, commander!

As soon as you see the transport jump away, Jump also works when you are stunned so it makes it quite easy to escape.

Its nice to see you all can read. I have no idea if transports can pick up moving units or not, and I am not even able to tell from the comments, because they all seem to assume USrankUnLuky does not understand how units or unit-compositions work. But that is not the point. If you assume charons can`t pickup anything that moves, there is no reason to jump away or escort something that is pretty self-sufficient aa.
AFAIK charon is not able to pick up anything that moves, but I might be wrong.

A replay would lead to a more fertile conversation.

... can you not say stuff in sarcasm? it makes it very hard to respond & take the guilt....
anyway, i think that hercules being able to pick up slow & big enough targets is a funny and a reasonable ability, so it's not that harmful to be considered a bug.... it doesn't break the game, that's for sure....

Multiplayer B1909435 4 on Violet Rampart Generator v1.4 at 54min 89%, UnLuky's detri killed all gnat and moving, but still be picked up

My idea is to forbid hercules from picking enemy unit which is not stunned, also drop it when it is not stuunned. Good and reasonable.
Or it is odd, pick it up to stun it.

Here's the replay. I'm pretty sure my detri was still moving when it was picked up, and for more context I didn't bother making more escorts for it because I killed all the gnats trying to stun it before getting picked up by a hercules. Units should have to be completely still before getting picked up and not just moving slowly (which is bs).

Interesting, idk how that happened. Can anyone cheat some units into and reproduce it with a small replay?

I see, slow is involved, or perhaps cliff climbing. There is no reliable way to know whether a unit is in the "walking" state, so I might just have to tighten some fudge factors.

This game never ceases to amaze me. I hope the game itself at least knows what state a unit is in, although at this point I think I might just accept every answer.

The engine knows, but it isn't telling. Units that really really care about this, like Fencer and Crab, have a bunch of hax in their scripts to patch edge cases where they would otherwise end up moving around while deployed. I asked for something to be usefully exposed to lua a while ago, but the response I got was that it was working as intended.

That was a while ago, so perhaps I should ask again.
