I know I keep harping on about this, but I really don't enjoy the way units and pyros particularly interact with factories early game.

I should be able to defend my factory with my commander by itself. You just can't because units just run around them. Why even give my commander a laser at that point? It's just resign time as soon as you see a unit if you don't have a llt or laser.

Yes, it creates a puzzle that adds a type of skill. It's not a fun puzzle that makes the game better though. It just ends games prematurely and also particularly punishes new players. Wp by the other player, but this isn't a good interaction.

I think adding a complimentary LLT such as how we have a free Fac plop would suffice in solving this frustrating puzzle.

some factories like rover can make a few scorcher and sometimes kill a lotus too so its difficult protecting yourself without raiders who can react

the main advantage of base lotus seems to be you cant be tempted to send them to the frontline =P

I think my thoughts on llt.

Yes I agree snuggle - the widow and redback probably would have got me regardless...

However, the two pyros would be enough. Honestly one pyro is enough - with the commander you just can't ever target them because they just run behind the factory endlessly.

A small laser on top of the factory might be a solution here. Even if it has half or a quarter the dps of a llt. It wouldn't do much except prevent those scenarios. I think I'd rather this solution of being able to shoot over the factory though!

Really, raiders are actually better at defending your factory than static units. There is a weird thing with raiders were they easily defeat something if they are defending or running away, but lose if attacking.
