how are downloads handled right now? who is mostly involved into this(guessing licho, maybe others)?

downloads by topic:
1)
installation components
2)
map downloads
3)
engine downloads
4)
zk updates/other

is it all centralized?
is this a bottleneck for the server with the new greenlight popularity boost?

ideas:
maybe players can provide alternative mirrors, which are automatically requested to provide content when central server is on high load.

maybe the download system can be adjusted with an alternative, using integrated torrent client over the playerbase/or opt-in required etc?

I have been thinking that p2p might be a good idea to reduce strain on the server. SC2 uses it to download patches (which seems to take billions of years every time one is released).

I thought it already was torrent-based (for maps at least)... or is that only SpringLobby's downloader?

Either way, the map downloader does fail occasionally and that either needs to be fixed or a workaround needs to be provided (a download link and that gizmo that automatically drops spring map files into your spring maps folder).
