Hi. First I would like to talk about the tick. The tick needs to be changed. Why?

Well for starters. The tick is obsolete when compared to the roach. For starters you can't use more then 1 tick without the rest getting emped by the first tick that gets shot. Unlike the roach where it sets off a explosive chain reaction. I feel most times the tick is a liability to itself.

Next point. The tick emp is quite underwhelming. Why use a weak emp when you can use a roach or a group of them to "blow everything up"

I thought maybe a good way to get the tick to be useful would for it to be a "emp cloud" that creates a mini lightening storm where everything that passes it, takes emp damage. It lasts for around 30 seconds.

What do you guys think? ticks won't emp each other straight away. You can use more then 1 to increase the emp effect. It can be a useful weapon with it own twist.

I don't think Tick really needs a real buff. Though what makes me sad a bit is Roaches' 384 aoe radius vs Ticks' 352. 384 is just much nicer as a number (256 + 128) compared to 352 (256 + 64 + 32). Plus emping low flying gunships with a Tick was fun. Might be just me though.

To answer "Why use a weak emp when you can use a roach":
lower cost, allterrain, EMP not destroying your commander/(heavy)units/defense/eco, EMP disabling shields, etc.

Well It not really a buff i would like to see. I would like to see a more distinguished role for the tick.

Right now it is underwhelmed and it very existence is threatened by the superior German roach war machine.

Tick should be oppressed no more! no more being in the shadow of the popular german roach war machine! rise up tick and stand proudly side by side with the german war machine.

Tick is built by cloaky fac and serves a purpose in a cloaky army (e.g. holding balls still so glaives can kill it).

Roach is built by shield fac and serves a purpose in a shield army and is maybe worth switching to shield to get. Tick might not be worth switching to get but that doesn't make it a bad unit, doesn't mean it needs a buff and doesn't mean it needs a rework.

Oh one more reason to use Tick instead of Roach:
Tick only emps and a Glaive followup is more likely to create wreckages than Roaches (which would create debris), so 2x reclaim.

Tick can be used defensively, when placed on mexes and LLT's that are liable swarm targets.

A roach in this case would destroy both your eco/porc and the raiders; tick will disable raiders and your stuff, so you can clean up and keep eco.

After some time you simply stop thinking that 'a single lotus is easy', which is a very powerful thing.

TLDR version.

Basically you could use the emp cloud version of the tick to restrict enemy movement and could be used against even flea or dirtbag spam. Lastly you could even use the emp cloud on a porc and then send in the zeus army to quickly emp the half emped stuff.

Porc that you can just walk into with a tick and EMP? I'd like to see that. Even then, "you half emp the porc and then walk in with zeuses" works exactly the same with the current tick.

Tick already is area denial. Even better, it's area denial that the enemy doesn't know of until it's too late (if you do it properly).

Tick was just stealth buffed. EMP accidentally lost its effectiveness against low health units for the last two months.

If I recall correctly, the damage done by pure-EMP attacks (tick, spy, etc.) previously affected their target as if they had full health, no matter how much damage they had taken. I'm not sure where to find which patch it was in but it was post 1.2.8.11.

Again IIRC the bug existed for about 2 months - probably not caught because hybrid damage units like Zeus were unaffected. I think I did see one or two complaints about spy, though.

EDIT: After a bit of digging, it was fixed by the most recent version, 1.2.8.17.
