default boxes for this should be top left vs bottom right corners imo, gets porcy elsewise

Maybe so but you get a lot of flanking space which is nice.

True more flanking space for normal units. But on the other hand I find it hard to flank sides. In addition, amphibs are good on the watersides so that opens up a nice flank.
