Zero-K lobby server has been moved to a different machine.
Please restart Zero-K lobby twice (to force it's upgrade) or use address "lobby.zero-k.info" if you are using other lobby program than Zero-K

Does this mean that there will be less lag in large team games.

The servers arent dirrectly connected yet, "federation" feature isn't implement.
Please use the "swap server" button for now:

You should remove any reference to "Spring project" from the donations page.

Why? Won't this split communities and devs? Won't it make projects more likely to become incompatible in future? I would probably have never played ZK if it was originally split like this. It seems like the projects should stay close together and support eachother.

This is a lobby server split. It's likely to lead to a lobby protocol divergence (the two servers are already not 100% compatible, but luckily only in things barely implemented by anyone).

This is NOT an engine split. This may or may not come later, but it's unrelated to this (engine and lobby has very little connection).

Links with more information about it are here:

Basically ZK needs to move forward fast to prepare for steam, when lobby server failed.
Abma maintains lobby server but instead of caring about player needs, he is more fixated on doing things "right" from intellectual standpoint. That made it very hard for some features like quickmatch to work properly, and this is something that is very unlikely to change anytime soon, while we need changes fast. There is my proposal to implement federation (to connect both servers using common protocol subset), but it's also not very liked by Abma so who knows...

Abma also moved lobby server to separate machine (from the ZK one) and didn't provide access.

well,at least at the time, tailoring the server to the game might be good because then the functionality added, changed,or removed won't disrupt other games. then there can be focus on this

Will other lobby clients be usable with new lobby server, or will people be forced to use ZKL? What lobbies are currently confirmed as working with ZK since change? I've heard people having problems connecting to the new ZK lobby server with non-ZK lobbies

Currently all lobbies which can change the server address are capable of joining lobby.zero-k.info.

Has that been tested? People in chat were saying different, at least with Springlobby

I'm using weblobby and it works for me.

Dunno what SL does, but certainly at least one other lobby works.

OK I'm getting weirdness repeated in several different lobbies programs. When I try to connect specificlly to new ZK lobby server, I get the old lobby server's list of games (and no ZK games). Why would this happen? Anyone else have this problem? Is there any need to use different username / password? (not sure why that would matter)
