hopefully other lobbies update soon.
e.g. weblobby for the more graphical users. And I hope cleanrock does flobby protocol update.

But I have to agree, a bit more announcement to give time for devs to react would be appreciated. :(

Not to forget current problems with Linux and ZeroKLobby

Other lobbies would have to do more than to "update" protocol. It's a different protocol which is not the protocol of lobby.springrts.com.

They would have to learn to support two protocols.

This thread has not met my comedic expectations based on the title. Try harder next time.

I'm trying to figure out a funny reply for this but I can't, how about some Micro$oft conspiracy?

You don't need to use .NET you can use Mono, both are open source, so you can improve both.

And btw there was a warning, I made an announcement in a stickie development thread here on forum.

I dont like # either, you are welcome to rewrite lobby into QML (which is awesome :)
Good luck, see you next year.

.NET does not suck, it is just very bloated. So many versions, and with the service packs on top of that, it takes ages to install.

I downloaded fucking NET of version 4 (for XP x64), but it doesn't help. Are there some unique things from 4.5 that were used in new lobby?

Yes, await/async. Please try to use mono runtime RUrankHuj
If it works it would be best to post some guide for others and we can put it to download page.

I guess that all you need to do is to install mono and then do mono.exe Zero-K.exe from command line or something like that.

Yes, you launch "Mono Command Prompt", navigate to where your Zero-K.exe is and then "mono Zero-K.exe"

I think ZKL could return back to previous NET.

The only difference is (as I was told) the connection code which overlapped with Server's code (ZKL's code overlapp with Server's code quite much, and since server require some feature from NET 4.5.1 for performance reason, ZKL is forced to follow).

The NET 4.5.1 is specifically meant for Server's code.

From-inside of mono command prompt

F:\Downloads\spring_96.0_portable>mono Zero-K.exe

and simple "mono"

leads to "mono.exe is not a valid win32 application" error.

Simple "zero-k.exe" gives nothing noticable.

"2013 redistributable" installed.

When running gtk-sharp-2.12.26.msi, it displays "required MS .NET 4.0", which i have.

Seems no guide from me, at least now.

And seems return to prev. version of .NET fuckworks for lobby needed, as described by xponen.

Those on windows having problems with .NET - Check your windows update, I found out I had 60 .NET updates that didn't install because something broke. After I installed them zerok worked fine.
